    the sixth sense

i sometimes get a feeling that something has happened before it happens--or maybee a sense that someone is watching me:wideeyed:its quite freaky this sixth sense thing--a while ago we went to view a property, and when inside i felt something telling me not to buy it:goofy:its wuz in the forest of dean--2 years after we read in the local paper that it had sunk into a mine shaft:no:there wuz heaps of tin mines in that area years ago--just wundered if any other members had experiences like this, and how do you explain them, and before any cocky members says theve never had a house fall into a mine:wink:i mean things in life that you cant explain
  3. This must be a joke. Immigration chief wins leadership award - Local News - News - General - The Canberra Times Maybe now he'll get promoted elsewheres ! Although I'd happily receive the $40,000 to consult to DIAC to help them improve things (where to start?), I will wager it goes on his sabbatical and the temporary head becomes full time head of DIAC.

  5. Hi guys, I joined this forum a few months back but havn't been around for a while. Then I received an email from POI saying you missed me and could I be tempted back :cute: I believe in fate (long story) so that's why I am here now. I am a member of another forum which I am going to TRY to leave as I'm soooo fed up of the whinging attitudes and sarcastic, belitteling comments from other members  Hopefully I may have something to contribute to this site as I now have my visa (175) in my passport, I have booked my flights, I have secured a job in Victoria (mornington) I, have found 4 weeks accommodation in Oz, have left my job in the NHS (i am a nurse) and now I'm busy packing as we move out at the end of this month and I'm going to live with my In-laws from Wednesday next week :arghh: I also have 3 grown children and nearly 2 grandchildren who I am going to miss more than anything in the world (thats Niamh on the drums haha). I'm now in the "O MY GOD" stage of are we doing the right thing and hoping to give and receive advice, share feelings and anything else that I can. I'm also sitting on a garden chair, have ice-cubes in cool bags and doing my washing wherever I can as I have now sold most of my belongings  It is really nice to meet you all and that's my story in a nutshell! I would love to share my experiences with you and offer advice or just a little sympathy for when things get too much. Amanda xx

    Oz fashion sense.

Cor Blimey O'Reilly. All those years i wasted buying Armani Suits,Bally shoes, silk ties et all, then i get's to Oz and realises the folly of my ways! The Aussies have "the look" i was striving for.For the sporty there is a vast selection from the famous fashion houses of Champion,Lonsdale,Asics and Admiral, lots of multi coloured selections there for even the most discerning followers of fashion. But where it really falls into it's own on the World stage is that "Man" look that is certain to set any woman's heart a flutter. The stylish designer beard that reaches down to the waistline, the greyer and more dishevelled the better.Tobacco stains are de rigeur here, and add that certain mystique.A roll up hanging gracefully from the corner of the mouth gives a sense of daring. The checked and padded Lumberjack shirts here are perfection and can only be complimented by the various stylish braces on offer.Add a Straw rimmed hat with the "stressed" look, half mast dungarees and you are at the cutting edge of high fashion OZ Style. Those still in the UK,please keep it to yourself,it's our little secret here.

Critical Skills list doesn't make sense.

Hi guys.. After the awful news this morning regarding the updated CSL.... I just wondered how IMMI get the idea and do the research for this list.. I mean for example my profession electrician (special class) is currently on ALL the states sponsorship lists.. Yet its been removed from the CSL???? Looking at the list it states secondary school teacher, yet this is not listed on every states sponsorship list?? Surely IMMI would consult with all state governments before producing such a list wouldn't they?? What do you guys think??
  9. Ok, maybe I am jumping the gun a bit early here. I thought I would wake up today to find loads more information on the new Pathway D proposal. I cant find anything. I just want someone to tell me in plain english what the new proposals mean for people in my situation. My husband works in I.T. but because he has worked there since leaving school he has no formal qualificaitons. Can anyone tell me if the new proposals say anywhere that it will improve the system for people with no qualificaitons.? Its all very confusing to me and as we dont have an agent yet most of the jargon you read means nothing to us as yet. Help before I go insane
  10. Morning/afternoon/evening all Situation: we're in the process of deciding if moving to Perth is the right thing for us. I'm an IT bloke (25+ years of consultancy, software development and systems engineering), and thus I've been looking at getting my skills assessed by the ACS (ASCO 2231-79 for a subclass 175 visa). We're going out to Perth in March 08 on a visit to family/recce trip and I'm wondering whether it makes sense to get my ACS assessment ahead of that trip, so that I could talk to potential employers. Against that is the expense of the assessment: if we end up not moving, that's several hundred quid spent. There's a little bit of time pressure here also: I'm 43 in January, so I'd have about a 18 months or so to get a visa application in if I leave it until after we visit. So: how do employers (especially those in IT) tend to view this? I've heard comments like "don't bother talking to them without a visa because they'll only tell you to come back when you have one". I guess a fair amount depends on the IT/software/new media job situation in Perth... Any comments/advice/experience welcomed! Thanks b

Sun Sense & Simple Sun Cream

Hi Can anyone tell me how easy it is to get hold of a sun cream called Sun Sense and how expensive is it? It's the only one that my youngest can use without scratching himself silly. It is an Oz make so I hope it is easy to get and fairly cheap. Also, my other devil can only use the Simple brand of sun cream (awkward kids!) can I get this make in Oz? Hope someone can help otherwise I may have to use our entire baggage allowance in sun cream. thanks Michelle
  13. oh god, as you may have read from previous posts i have been patiently:wacko: waiting for an acknowledgement to my visa app, well it got the better of me so i thought id ring royal mail as i dont know if any of you have used it, but the track & trace number you are given only goes up until it leaves this country (thats helpful) anyway the woman on phone said theres no record of it at the other endso now as you can imagine im sooo worried, as i also had my meds done 2 weeks ago & they`ve gone off, i really cant imagine having to fill all them bloody forms in again you hear of a handful of applications that go missing with royal mail but i used them with the tra with no probs, so now i suppose i have to sit tight & see if the immi contact me anyone else had similar probs??? donna
