  1. Hello! Me and my boyfriend are flying to Brisbane in June and were thinking to whack out our farm work straight away and was looking for any advice - such as where's best to go, what's in season, what pays well etc. Any help would be appreciated!!
  2. Hi, would anyone know any places that would offer seasonal work/fruit picking in the Queensland area for mid June 2011 period for a period of 3 months. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Hello everyone, I have decided to extend my visa for another year and want to do seasonal work. Since it is winter here in Sydney, I was thinking of touring the north west and east coast where the weather is much wamer and do different types of seasonal work so I would then explore more of Australia and at the same time get paid and renew my visa. Would this be possible to go from different seasonal job places (1 week here and then few weeks there and so on) or do I have to stick for 3 months in the same work place? How long does the process of finding a place to work in and starting take? What paper work is required to be able to work? Can anyone share their seasonal job experience, recommend good places to go to etc... Thanks, G
  4. Hi guys, I was wondering what the situation is with the availability of seasonal work in Victoria? I know there there are peak months, but is there generally work available year round? I'm particularly interested as I would want to work towards my second WHV, and I would be eager to get it out of the way as soon as I possibly could Cheers, Dan.

    Proving Seasonal Work

Hi everyone, This is my first post here. Basically I'm really confused about the whole second year working holiday visa. I'm currently in my first year WHV expiring in november this year. I havent done my seasonal work yet and am arranging it in the next few days. After consulting the immigration website for the facts I still find the requirments stated to be very vauge. For example it says that too apply for the second I have to complete 3 months/88 days seasonal work in the specified postcodes, but does this mean that I have to work that amount of days or just be with the employer for that long. I mean it would be really great to know if anyone could tell me how you prove that you've done the work, because if its a case of showin payslips then usually they are marked 'week ending' and therefore there is no way of trackin how many days out of that week have actually been worked. I just cant get my head around it because if I have to work 88days then working a 5 day week will take more than 3 months to complete if it is actual days worked that count. Hope this makes sense, any advise will be appreciated. Thanks BigM
  6. Hi i have read the forum for a long and time and have never posted before but here it goes. Im currently on a WHV and living and working on the Gold Coast at the moment. I currently have state sponsorship and have a applied for a 176 skilled visa. Obviously as everyone knows the processing times are taken forever and my WHV runs out at the start of July so i currently looking to get a 2nd WHV if possible. Does anyone know of any contacts or websites that would have any jobs that are covered by the "specified work" to make me eligible for a 2nd WHV. I have struggled to really find much jobs really advertised on the web that cover this. I would like to still be able to live on the Gold Coast as I am tied to a 12 month lease but i do understand that the Gold Coast isn't counted as a regional area and that i would have to travel probably an hour at each way, which is fine. Any steps for a hint would be much appreciated. Thanks for your help guys. Paul
  7. Hi there I'm a journalist based in the UK and I'm hoping someone on this forum might be interested in talking to me about a feature I'm currently writing. I'm looking for people who've suffered from SAD in the past (probably back in the UK) and then moved to Australia. I'm interested to know if you experienced any symptoms once you arrived in Australia, and I'm also keen to know if SAD had any bearing on your decision to move there. The piece is for the Guardian website, please PM me asap if you would like to share your thoughts on this. Thanks a lot Joanne
