    IELTS scoring, part II

So how are the reading and listening parts scored? I noticed that the answer sheet is computerized, which probably means that it is run through some sort of a scanner. Personally, I would much rather have someone correct it because -especially for the listening part, we can put down a synonym for an answer that is correct, but the computer may mark as wrong. What do you think? Or are both parts marked by both a computer and a person?

    IELTS scoring

My husband is due to take the IELTS test this week, I believe that they give you an overall grading of your results so for example if you got:- Speaking - 8 Listening - 8 Reading - 7 Writing - 8 They are likely to grade you as band 8. For 175 and 176 visas do you HAVE to get a full flush of say 7s or will it just go off the ‘overall’ grade? Just a bit confused!

    Points Scoring

Hi All, I have tried one of the free on line assessments. I thought I had scored enough points for migration to Oz. However, because I have not worked directly as a Nurse for two years (but in what I thought was an associate type role) it appears I do not score enough points. Any tips or advice because I am slightly devastated. David

    HSBC & Credit Scoring

Hi All, bit late in the day to be asking about this perhaps, we will be joining all those who have made the move to Brisbane, 18 days and counting. Anyway back to my question, we have an account already set up with Westpak, only transfered the bare min. just to keep the account live & running, for this pleasure we do get charged per month, which I think is the norm in Oz with most banks, we visited HSBC this week, to enquire setting up with them as they have no charges (or so she told us) but they did want to charge us £100, this £100 is for our credit history to be transfered to Oz, has anyone else come up against this, we knew we would have to build the credit history up again, has anyone found it hard work to rent / buy cars and houses etc, or has anyone paid to have there credit history taken over there and found this to make a significant difference.

    Oz credit scoring

Can anybody tell me how Australia lenders deal with migrants in terms of credit scoring? Do they take your UK credit rating into account? The reason why I ask is that I would like to work on short term contracts (3 months ish) when I get there so I wouldn't have a full time employer. Would this screw up our chance of getting a mortgage? Gary
