When can you make a decision of moving to Melbourne to land safely?
VenkatSiri posted a topic in Victoria
Hi All , PomsinOZ is really a great site where I got registered and now we have Grant letter J Thanks to PomsinOZ.. Now that we got Grant letter on 12 OCT ‘11, we are planning to move to Melbourne from Singapore. From few posts I came to know that a couple require AUD 20k in hand to land in Melbourne.. So with this amount, how many months we can stay .. Keeping in mind that we need to search jobs.. I am counting on worse situations.. I also have my Uncle in Australia who is citizen there whom I can count ... Can we plan our move together if we have just AUD20k in hand? At the moment , i feel making this decision itself is Critical of all .. :biglaugh: My Question in short is : “When can we make a decision of moving to Melbourne to land safely?” (a) Only if I have AUD 20k in hand ? (b) Only if I/my spouse have good job in Melbourne ? © Or both ? Any experienced answers please J -
Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooo I have now been back in Old Blighty for four days........ Landed at Heathrow and yes I did kiss the tarmac, it will be on CCTV somewhere...haha Weather 30 degrees and been nice ever since........ Greenery, trees, grass, green and lush.....everywhere...........Sparrows, thrush's and blackbirds flying overhead and whistling sweetly in the garden..... Historic buildings on every corner......Great buildings with character, church spires, and passing through great little villages on the train..... Country pubs, not ****ty stagnant hotels with no character..... No pokies.......no meat and fish raffles..... Drinking a pint of good beer..... Talking, conversing and socialising...... No TV commercials every 6 minutes........ No forever ending car and insurance advertisements on TV....... Going into supermarkets with so much choice....blows me away......great produce and tasty food on offer.......reasonable prices....... Taste buds have returned...... A proper Indian curry....... Cod and chips.............Mmmmmmmmm Today going to see a proper live football match with my brother in-law......Bristol City v Ipswich Town.......next week the premiership starts again and off to see the Villa v/s Fulham................AWESOME!!!!! Boredom vanished already...........0z feels like a bad 3 and a half year dream and I have just woken up to a place of life................no longer living in heavens waiting room.....Yeeeeessssssssssss The list is endless, happiest I have been for years...... Will come back and tell more......... On another note.......If you are thinking of flying back to the UK for whatever reason, then be careful when booking flight. If thinking of flying with Thai airways then be ready for a boring flight. The first flight from Sydney to Bangkok was okay, flight had the game and movie consul on the seat, so there was plenty to do and relieve the boredom of the nine hours. But the 12 hour flight from BKK to Heathrow was boring with no movie and games consul or even a viewing of a movie to the whole plane, I thought this to be very poor quality for the money paid. But at least they got me home.................Hahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa If anyone has any questions about anything then please feel free to contact me. Remember, I fully understand how some of you are feeling.............. Great to be back, off to Amsterdam for a few days on Monday to catch up with some mates.......return flight £45 from Gatwick, will get there in 50 minutes................ I am off to buy a proper Saturday newspaper and go to the bookies and put a bet on and watch some real horse racing........Brilliant........ Big hugs to you all.... Take care all..........x:laugh:

Hi All, I MADE IT - SAFE AND SOUND - 3RD TIME LUCKY!!!! After the accidents and delays I am finally here and four weeks on I have my new car and a great rental. Nightmare journey to LA with Virgin. I will never fly with them again. Cramp, crowded and awful (even for an airline) food. Great side trip to Las Vegas and brilliant journey (if extremely long) to Brisbane via Auckland with Air New Zealand. Picked up by my aunt who got lost on the way home, insisted we stop off at Chermside shopping centre, told us their water tank was empty and we couldn't use the toilet until it was filled (maybe a few days). We were ready to come home or at least go to a hotel. Luckily the tank was filled the same day. Picked up the new car and Neville (the Nav Man GSP) and spent the next few days sleeping and waking the wrong way round and being eaten by mozzies (even though I'd been taking Vit B). Started looking for a rental and was told about some awful system of applications. On a chance drop in to a real estate agent near North Lakes I managed to get a brand new 3 bedroom rental (with a pool across the cul-de-sac) in Kallangur with absolutely no trouble at all - and someone movs the lawn. I was estatic. A week later I moved in and the house contents arrived. Good God! I had a lot of stuff. The movers (Crown) were great and I spent the weekend emptying boxes. I now only have half a dozen to go and they are school books to be stored in the garage until I get a teaching job. Aah JOBS! Well I haven't got one so if anyone in the are knows of a nice job for a primary teacher with plenty of experience - let me know. My Dad gats the paper and (with his new pack of highlighters) colour code circles jobs for me. Its driving me mad! I have been looking at new houses and was advised to get a solicitor to look over any contracts. If anyone can recommend one nearish to me, that would be great. Neville (the Nav Man) broke down when visiting a friend in Cleveland and the garage in Strathpine have been useless. I went in and rang 4 times. Eventually I was given an appointment nearly a week later for the car and Nav to be assessed. Surely they should just give me a new one! I will go in on Mon and complain bitterly! Telephone connection is taking more than 2 weeks to sort out so I am in the library at North Lakes every couple of days. I thought they were having a drought here? We've had plenty of rain here. Mum and Dad go home on Thurs and then I'm on my own. Sitting in a dark room sobbing in my lonely state. Sitting on the beach on Chrissy Day with my lone chicken leg or travelling up to Cooroy to visit relatives I have only met once. All in all, its great to be here. I've got to get out and meet some people and get a job to pay the rent (the house in th UK STILL isn't sold), but life is looking good at the moment. Rebecca

Here I am safe and sound in Australia. Horrendous flight to LA with Virgin. Tiny seats and awful food. Great connecting flight to Las Vegas with US Airways. Lost a suitcase at Heathrow which arrived 2 days later. Won $5 at the Bellagio and had to get ANOTHER suitcase to accommodate shopping in US. Great flights with Air New Zealand via Auckland and straight to bed last night. I'm in Strathpine library now after arranging to pick up new car on Monday. Next it's the bank and Centrelink! Then back for a nap. It's all go! Rebecca (in Australia at last!!!!):jiggy:

Hi Peeps We got our furniture on Monday its so great to have it , only one piece hasn't survived a telly luckily it was a spare and we are claiming for it,off the insurance as was quite expensive, everything else all in one piece took a total of 7weeks to get here and got through customs in 5days we didn't bring any garden furniture, and were very carefull on the christmas decorations, the fella that unloaded our container said it cleared customs the fastest hes seen it in his 2yrs working for the company, they did check the bikes and shoes and some ornaments and hubbys tools but nothing needed fumigating or destoying. It really is great to have familiar things around you and the boys are happy now they have there game consoles. Nigel has done his 1st week at work and is settling into it fine but can't beiieve how laid back they all are after having so much pressure put on him in his last work hope it stays this way. Foxtell has been installed and yes can't get the boys to do anything now with the simpsons on. Even though the tely didn't survive i would highly reccommend Britannia/Bradshaws removals these had a office in Trafford Park Manchester and everything went fast as they promised we also haggled on the price which they matched. Well woke up to it pouring down here all last night and this morning but can't complain as they do need it and its still warm and winter. We are currently putting a deposit on some land and hoping to have a house built should be all ready for moving in feb was going to wait for 12months but the property is going up and thought we should put our money into bricks and mortar instead of renting for months on end will here if mortgage has been approved in a weeks time fingers crossed. speak soon Karen xxx
