    Military Service Evidence

Hello, I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the write place but I'm hoping someone may be able to help or point me in the right direction. I am in the process of applying for a 189 visa (invitation received and filling in the forms at the moment) for me and my fiance. We are both in the Army Reserves in the UK and are not planning on leaving until we have our visas and are about to leave. The website says that you need discharge certificates for military service but we obviously won't have these to supply with our application. Has anyone else had a similar experience and provided other evidence? Thanks in advance
  2. Hi all...I moved to Victoria with my work last year on a 457 visa and so far so good and very happy. I am from the UK and still an active Army Reservist (on an approved leave of absence) but I am very interested in working with and getting attached to an Australian Reserve Unit...I know there is a mechanism for those on a PR visa...I don't know if it is possible on a 457. I have a lot of practical and operational experience and just want to learn more and keep up to date whilst I am over here. I think it would be a great opportunity, just don't want to cock up my visa by doing it without permission....
  3. The Australian dollar has weakened due to the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) cutting interest rates. RBA have cut the cash rate to 4.5% from 4.75% and this is the first cut since April 2009 – RBA said they were concerned about the impact of global uncertainty on the Australian economy. Also, not helping the Aussie dollar, new home sales (in Oz) fell 3.5% in September from August, their lowest level since December 2000

  5. Here's a question which I thought might lead to some interesting views from both sides of the pond and hopefully bring both sides together in a more united way. We do after all share the same planet. This is just my observation having lived in England and Australia, now back in England for business reasons mostly. OK, the English. Notoriously beat themselves up and criticise their own country to the point where they can be, note I said can be, not always, decidedly negative and gloomy at times. Having said that, they are very reserved so they appear reluctant to take much pride in their country. Can be ultra gloomy to be with! Australia - again, only my observation. Sometimes the Aussies seem to be so sensitive, that they project a fake kind of pride as a veil to hide some of the things that aren't that great. This means when you hint that there are some parts of Oz you might not completely like, they get upset! Have to hand it to the Aussies, they have so many setbacks with their weather and climate that it is understandable why they play up all the positives and keep that sense of 'she'll be roight mate'. But it is OK to cry sometimes.
  6. HI PIO'ers The Reserve Bank of Australia has raised interest rates for the sixth time in seven months amid rising inflation and surging house prices. The 25 basis point rise in rates takes the official cash rate to 4.5 percent and will add around $45 to the monthly repayment on a $300,000 mortgage. Since the RBA began its current cycle of rate hikes in October last year, monthly repayments have gone up by around $250. Kind Regards,
