  1. Hi All Our family of 5 are hoping to move to Melbourne this year (when I have registered with the nurses board which is proving to be a documentary nightmare but that's for another thread!) - all looking forward to it apart from my 13year old daughter who thinks life begins and ends in Manchester with her mates etc! Anyone had a similar experience and any ideas as to how i can coax her round to the idea? She is into horse riding and ju jitsu so taking that angle at the moment but would be good to know of any new ways of making the move a bit more bearable!! Hoping you can help me out before I have to lay the law down ie. staying in the UK is not an option! Grateful for any advice.........
  2. Hello Community, We are a family of five ( 3 kids – two daughters, 11 & 9 & son of 6 ). We are going to be back in Brisbane over Easter for a couple of weeks for our second visit to nail down our preferred areas to potentially relocate to early next year. Our problem is that our 11 year old daughter is having a bit of a tough time in coming to terms with our impending emigration. She gets upset even if we talk about it in front of her. Our younger two are fine about it. With the above said, I was wondering if there are any like-minded Brit families in the Brisbane area that have made the move with a reluctant child of that sort of age who may want to meet up whilst we are there to share their experiences. Our eldest daughter enjoys sports ( netball in particular ), our younger daughter is a dancer and our little man is football crazy. It would be especially great to hear from you if your child settled after a sticky start and began to enjoy life over there. This ‘meet-up’ idea seemed a beneficial thing to do on the recently screened “Wanted Down Under” series so if there is any similarly aged families out there who wants to meet up for a chat and a beer somewhere, it would be great to hear from you. Also welcomed would be written input via the forum from those who can offer their opinion. Thanks All Iain H and family XXXX

  4. Hi there, We're a little bit concerned about sending a reference from my husband's current employer in case TRA decide to contact them. If our Oz dream goes pear shaped we don't want to jeopardise employment here. We have a person in the company that we trust to write and sign the reference, but printing it on letterhead gives TRA to contact anybody in the company regarding this which would be a nightmare! We're already sending a stat. dec. for the companies my hubby worked for years ago that no longer exist. Would it look bad if we send one for his current employer too? Can anybody shed some light. Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu :cute:
  5. Hi I hope you can help me I'm trying to find out as much information as I can for my son who is very reluctant to come. He is a qualified ref for the FA over here, can he continue over there as he is very sporty? sorry one more question when he goes into year 11 in february what would the best subjects for him to take to become a sports physiotherapy? Thank you so much x:skeptical:
