    Building regulations

Hi all We have a 176 visa for Canberra and will be looking for work as a Architectural technician/technologist. Can anyone point me in the right direction for finding Australian building regs and if they differ for each state. Thanks Kate
  2. Hi. Could someone shed some light on the fate of skilled RPL applicants come the new visa changes on July 1st? My agent says that the chance of a skilled visa application under RPL goes out of the window as the new regulations will only favour qualified applicants. My situation is that my 263111 Network & Systems Engineer application is currently being processed with ACS (under RPL - 8 years exp), and then I have to get State Sponsorship before my agent can submit my visa app prior to the new changes whilst there is a window of opportunity. My ANZSCO code qualifies under various SMPs (looking at Adelaide), so have to wait further if/when I get positive assessment. Cheers
  3. Hi all  Just passed my electrical assessment. I would like to start preparing for the AS/NZ3000 2007 wiring regulations here in the UK.Has anyone done this? Is the exam similar to the uk? were you can take your book into the classroom and search for the answers or is it similar to South Africa were you basically have to memorise it parrot fashion.I sure hope it is the same as the UK !!!! I found the South African regs EXAM much harder than the Uk, although they are basically the same regs. HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU GUYS.
  4. Complex regulations implementing all the relevant General Skilled Migration changes have been promulgated today. Unfortunately the new SOL is not yet available, but what we have will clarify many questions. See ComLaw Legislative Instruments - Migration Amendment Regulations 2010 (No. 6) (SLI 2010 No. 133) . In particular, the regulations introduce the mechanism for a SOL which will have independent and state sponsored occupations, create a framework for applying ANZSCO to general skilled migration applications and 457 applications, and break the nexus between sponsored and unsponsored general skilled migration applications. On a first reading it seems that applicants will have to choose at the outset whether they are to be family sponsored, state sponsored, or independent. That is, new applications for subclass 175, 176, 475, 487, 885 and 886 from 1 July (existing applicants are safe) won't be able to shift between those subclasses. Cheers, George Lombard
  5. I know this is really cheeky but does any one have a PDF copy of the AS/NZ3000 2007 Australian wiring regulations they could email me please. I would be very greatful. stewartbeades@hotmail.com Thanks Stewart
  6. I have read lots of information on these but my situation is a little different, so any advice would be great. I was granted a 475 state sponsored visa for Victoria in June 2009. Since then my ex partner had be in constant contact and wants me to move back to the UK. I have been in Australia now for 2 Years (working visa allowed me to move before my 475 was ready), I love the lifestyle and the fact I can afford to live comfortably on my own over here. I also like the way families spend more outdoors time together. My ex partner is not willing to move here, but I am not willing to move to the UK until my visa is 'safe'. If it didn't work with him, I'd be back here as soon as I could. However, I'm confused as to when my visa would be safe. Do I need 2 Years, then apply for permanent residency? Then what does this allow me to do? Others have said until you're a citizen you have to spend so much time in Australia to qualify for permanent residency and/or Citizenship. All the information is so confusing, any clarification would be great. I haven't made a decision yet and it's a pretty big one, so I want all of the information to be correct.
  7. Hi Everyone Does anyone have a copy of the AS/NZS 3000:2007 WIRING REGULATIONS BOOK.We have just finished the meds and we are waiting for our 176 WA sponsored visa.He has done his vetassess and has his OTSR(I think its called) He is a general electrician and will go for the mechanic one. We would like to go down to validate and hubby would use the trip to get his A licence in WA.It will be very helpful if he had the book to study before he went. Thank you very much :wubclub:
  8. A summary of the main changes affecting offshore skilled migrants (based on my first read through of the new Regulations) is here: Go Matilda - Your Gateway to Australia - News Best regards.
