  1. Hi, I am only just starting to look into a skilled visa. I will be applying for a visa as a Fitter (General) Basically, I am currently a maintenance engineer with 5 years experience but my background is in the RAF, as an aircraft maintenance engineer (15 years experience) I would like to include my RAF experience in my application but I'm not sure how I get the relevant job statement from the RAF as I have been a veteran for 5 years. My question, has anyone got a job statement from the armed forces even though not serving any more? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Transfer from UK RAF to RAFF

I have been offered a career opportunity moving from the UK to Australia. My partner (not married) is currently in the RAF and would be reluctant to leave. Is it possible to transfer from RAF to RAAF? I have seen previous posts on here but they are from more than 5 years ago so wanted to know what was still relevant or any advice on how to find this out?

    Transfer from RAF to RAAF

Does anyone know if this is possible and how we find out more info. We have been on the RAAF site and chatted to someone in Australia but they had no idea if a transfer was possible. We do know that his trade is on the In Demand List. Any help at all appreciated, Many thanks Nic

    RAF to RAAF

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has transferred from the Royal Air Force to the Australian Air Force recently? My hubby is an electrician and has served 10 years in the RAF and he's submitted an expression of interest to the Oz force who replied saying they would respond in the near future. We have got lots of info from their website and electricians are a priority job but it doesn't say anything about the process of transferring, obviously. Can anyone help? Thanks xx

    Raf to RAAF

Hi all, We are new to the site and thought this would be the ideal place to find some answers to our questions. We (Debra & Ian) have been considering a move to Oz for a number of years, but now seems to be the ideal time to persue it. My husband has served 20 years in the RAF and is coming up to his last 2 years. Ian is currently based at RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall. He is an Aircraft Technician (Mechanical). We have been endlessly searching the net for info about transferring from the RAF to the RAAF. We have visited the obvious sites (RAAF, Australia House/High Commission) none of these seem to specifically cater for a transfer between air forces. Please can anyone help? We need a footing to start the ball rolling. Where do we start? Any information or advice will be gratefully received. Thanks All Debs and Ian

  8. :biggrin:Hi, i'm just coming up to finishing a 22yr engagement in the RAF as a aircraft engineer avionics (out on the 10th june 2010). Just wondering has anyone started their actual visa application whilst still in the forces, am applying for a 175 visa, or do you have to wait for your discharge papers/exit date. Or can you just omit telling them that you are still in, thanks for any replies
  9. Hi everyone, very new to this, just wondered if anyone out there has any experience of being in the forces and applying for a visa. My husband will be out in May 2011 and we were hoping to begin the process this May so we can get out and join my brothers as soon as possible. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Hi all I have been in contact with one other on here. I was just wondering how many others are transferingto the RAAF I have noticed another thread for all the fishheads (Royal Navy) so I ment no disrespect to the senior service!! - - Its just good to see everyone sharing there experiences for a better life over in OZ!! I have just started the process. I have PVR'd (given my notice) and my date is May 2010. My application for the RAAF has been sent and recieved over there. My wait is on!! Good luck All!!
  11. G'day, just thought we'd say hello from the miserable UK. With a bit of luck (and some visa's!!) we'll be moving next year as I'm transfering to the RAAF from the RAF, and my wife who is a qualified nursery nurse, and our little boy who will be about 4 when we come over. And we can't bloody wait!! lewy & anna
  12. Hi folks, I am writing on behalf of my sister and brother-in-law. BIL is a chef in the RAF and currently has enough points to qualify for 175 visa. However, he is 44 and will be 45 in February next year. As it takes 18 months to leave RAF, he will be too old to apply after coming out. So, could they apply asap for visa, so that by the time they are ready to leave the RAF they will have a visa? Sorry, just wanted to add, I am sure it says on the list of documents to include in your application - discharge papers from armed forces, so how can you do this if you haven't left yet? Cheers
  13. Hi there, We are unsure of whether to take OHs (small) RAF pension over or if its better to leave it in the UK. For some reason even though its not a lot we seem to be getting a large bit of tax on it! We have been in Aus nearly six months and have been told for financial reasons we should transfer it before that six month point is out. Really not sure what is best. Does anyone have any advice and should we act quickly? Thanks.

    RAF to RAAF

Hi there, My husband was accepted by the ADF in an interview in October and told then that he would be going to Sale, Victoria in October 2007. Although he was told a month, haven't had anything in writing (or email) yet and wondered if there was anyone out there in the same situation. We were outwith the financial year - to June 2007 as hubby doesn't leave RAF till September therefore in theory they would have to wait for recruitment targets for next year (although did give him the ok in London). Just a bit jittery...... Also is there anyone out there with a knowledge of Sale or better still any other RAF who are heading south and would like to compare notes? Thanks so much, please keep in touch.
