  1. Has Australia really "reached the height of dickheadedry "? I haven't lived there for a few years now so can't comment personally but.... Is it getting better or worse? http://www.news.com.au/national/northern-territory/fk-off-were-full-of-racists/story-fnn3gfdo-1226997889967
  2. Let me be clear-- this is not in anyway to be offensive to Aussies. All the Aussies ( albeit only a handful) that I have come across were kind, soft spoken and polite. Taking on from another thread I'm just trying to explore why or whether Aussies are being perceived as the above. Do you think Aussies in any kind of majority or noticeable proportion are either one of Dumb , Drunk or Racist? Pomsinoz offers a good venue to discuss this topic because it would give a relatively unbiased opinion I think, with the majority of posters either British or Aussies. Just remember to keep it civil and not to do any racial bashing!. Mainly I'm interested in knowing IF there is such a perception elsewhere ( other than in India) and what are the reasons for such a perception.
  3. compare to Aussie men? Look at the British and European born and educated counterparts:sad:
  4. I was waiting to turn right into Devonshire St at the lights outside the Trinity Bar on Crown St and I hesitated, thinking that the taxi coming towards me was going a little to fast for me to 'go'. At the last second, instead of continuing on up Crown St, he suddenly turned left into Devonshire, the way I wanted to go. 'You 'bleep', I said, and on noticing the driver's face, 'you bleeping wog bleep.' Mea Culpa. Less than a minute later, I regretted my anger. He possibly did not mean to do it, forgot where he was going, whatever, we all do it, but, for me, I know there is no redemption for I am a white man and I revealed my true nature.

    Are Aussie men Racist?!?

Hello! Me and best mate are moving to Sydney in Jan 2011. We are both single, and are so excited just want to come out and have fun. But so many people keep telling me that Aussie men are really racist, which is worrying me just a little. I am English but my family are from Sri-Lanka, is this true? As I have been lucky in Engalnd to never have any issues about my race, but I am a bit worried now!!!! Thanks Appey
  6. Hello, I'm new to the forum but have been lurking for a while. Me and my OH are on our second visit to Australia and it's a kind of business trip/recce for possibly migrating here. We have been talking a lot about making the big move ever since we first came here two years ago and loved what we saw. This time, however, we are having second thoughts. I have been offered a position by a company in Chatswood in Sydney and we have been looking around the area, especially checking out schools for our 10-year old son. From what we've seen so far (which admittedly isn't much) I have to say that we're concerned that our son won't fit in with classmates who seem to be almost all Chinese. I know that sounds racist, but we were expecting a multicultural environment in Australia, not a monocultural one. We were really surprised by how the northern Sydney suburbs seem to be like a little Hong Kong. Many of the schoolkids we've seen around the area seem to speak Chinese rather than English to each other, and we're worried that our son will have trouble fitting in and making friends if that's the case. Many of the other areas of Sydney that we've explored along the train line - Macquarie Park, Eastwood, Epping (??) seem to be the same. Are we being paranoid? I should say that we're no strangers to diversity, having lived in south London for the last few years. We''d like our son to have friends from all cultures - including a few Aussies, if possible! Does anyone on PIO have experience of these areas and the schools?
