  1. Hi, I currently have a 190 visa application currently awaiting processing. I plan on quitting my current job in the UK to go travelling while I wait for the visa to be processed. Yes, I know there are risks to this, for example the visa taking longer to be processed than expected, but I am financially capable of waiting out any problems that may occur, and could also potentially enter Australia on a working holiday visa in the meantime, so I am not looking for advice on this. As to why I don't want to just wait until the visa is granted and then travel, again, I have my reasons that I do not plan to go into here. What I would like to know is; would there be a risk of this negatively impacting my visa application? I have already received state sponsorship, been invited to apply, and submitted a full and complete application including health assessments etc. The job I will be leaving will be the same job type I am entering Australia to begin working in. I would be notifying the department of home affairs on my immiaccount page via the "Notification of change in circumstances" form. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I think I know what I'm doing here but I could be missing something. Thanks in advance, Chris

    Defacto Application/ Quitting 457

Hi Guys, Hoping someone may have some clarity/ personal experience with bridging visas from a 457?! Basically I'm English on a sponsored 457 - about to lodge an application for 820 defacto visa with my Australian partner. Now once thats lodged I understand we get a Bridiging Visa A for when the 457 expires or "ceases" ( though my 457 doesn't expire til October 2015). However, what's the deal if I then quit my job, and therefore my 457 (its unbearable at current employers!!)? From reading other posts, If I quit the 457, I basically lose the Bridging A visa because its connected directly to the 457? If this were the case would I be able to get Bridging Visa C - ie no work rights but allowed to stay whilst 820 application is processing? or would I have to go and apply in person for bridging Visa E? and all within the 28 days of being unemployed? Thanks for any advice - I know bridging visas are a tricky matter... Best

    Stopping smoking for New Year

If anyone wants to stop smoking can I recommend "Allen Carr's Easyway to stop smoking". I stopped smoking just by reading the book 8 years ago from a long term 20/day habit, and hard as it is to believe it was pretty easy. Not sure who sells it in Australia but its available via ebay or amazon (or probably your local library). Hope this helps someone, I'm so happy I found a way to stop for good. This is the book, feel free to check out the reviews http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allen-Carrs-Easy-Stop-Smoking/dp/014103940X/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
  4. Thousands of Britons emigrate to Australia every year in search of a better life, but now more and more are deciding Down Under is not for them and returning home. The same trend seems to be happening to Australians deserting the UK. Why? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-15799571
  5. Hi Anyone got a direct contact telephone number or email address for the unit who may be able to advise if I want to quit my 857 employer before the two years is up? Waited on the phone for 45 minutes and was given the wrong email address :arghh:
  6. Hi Moderator,Experts and friends, One of my new friends in Adelaide asked me,"I had applied for the TR visa through an agent, I now have to apply for the PR, is the job of the agent over, can I now do it on my own?" I could not give the answer but after one year I am also going to face the same situation. Can any one of you tell whether the agent still has the role to play eventhough the applicant wished to apply self? thanks:wub::wacko:
  7. Hi Guys New here in Poms. I search this site so at least someone can help me and provide me advice based on experienced. i am currently holding ENS RSMS 857 PR visa SPOnsored by the fast food company. i was in 457 since July 2007. then granted RSMS PR VISA last Jan.06,2009 soon it will be one yr. My total years in the company is 3 1/2 years. 2 1/2 during 457 visa and 1 yr in RSMS. During these years i've seen australian employees come and go..now it happens my australian boss was resigned who i worked since 2007. New australian boss from 2008 and 2009 came then resigned. Last yr.i have a new boss again that based in perth and this time it doesnt seem she has a good people skills specially to 457 visas. In my contract it says i am only holding one store but due to my good performance the CEO asked me to handle 4 stores he said he will prepare new contract with new job title. So i continued handling 4 stores but until now one yr. ago my contract still the same but my job load is changed. meaning they utilizing and maximizing me because i always try to do all.and now the job title change is now forgotten. I send store report through my personal email which should not be but i think they keep me holding to grow. i am planning to resigned but i spent 1 yr. only in rsms pr visa 857. Is diac will cancel my p.r visa? I am sure they will ring diac once i resigned. after received manager of the year award and been featured in the company newsletter my new and current boss said i am not performing well. She said this because last week i disagree to handle 4 stores anymore as my contract said only one store to manage. The relationship has been destroyed and i am not feeling comfortable to work tothis comapny anymore as they didnot encouarage employees growth. Any advice is greatly appreciated. atc03
  8. My partner and I lodged a 176 SS non CSL visa application from a HR country in June 2009 but had no case officer assigned previous to the 23SEP09 debacle. We are now stuck in limbo and although there seems to be hope for us in Cat5 we are still filled with uncertainty and trying to move on with our lives. In this context, my partner's company has offered him a full time job in Europe. Given that I am the main applicant for our 176 visa, 1_ what effect would it have on the application if I quit my current job, which matches my nominated occupation, and possibly take up another job which may not match the nominated occupation? 2_ Also, would the fact of changing country of residence affect the visa application? 3_ Any other effect on the application arising from this situation? Thank you very much for your help, Steve
