    Student Visa and Schizophrenia

I have applied for a student visa to study for a PhD but I had to be admitted for schizophrenia 19 months ago. What are the chances that my student visa application will be successful. My case has been referred to the MOC already. I am really worried. I learnt there is a document called Guidance Notes which give insight into the cost of possible medical care for various conditions. Can anyone help me with access to the one on Psychiatric conditions

  3. Hi guys. My names ashley from glasgow. I'm young, single and seriously thinking about making a move to oz to work. I qualified in 2009 with my degree in psychiatric nursing. I have now nearly 2 years of working with addictions and social work regarding child protection cases behind me. I have no ties to stop me however the thought is naturally daunting. I've lived in perth, western oz for a few months back in 2009 and wasn't impressed. Beautiful place of course however i am a city chic and was told by backpackers whom i met in pubs in perth then i would like Melbourne better as it is more modern and cosmopolitan. Is this the case? Would love to hear from folk. Thanks

    Psychiatric nursing jobs?

Hey guys, I work in a low secure unit in Scotland, its called an Intensive Psychiatric Care Unit (IPCU) here. I'm really struggling to find a similar unit in Queensland, does anyone know if there is low or medium secure units, or any units that specialise in Forensic nursing? Any help will be greatly appreciated :notworthy: Joan x

    Psychiatric Assessment

Hi Folks As expected my meds for student visa app were referred to the panel doctors in Oz as I declared mild depression last year, see below for reponse. Apologies for lots of q's - stress. I am anticipating a psych assessment. I am really tight for time. Can I go to any private psychiatrist or does the panel have a list like the list of doctors for medicals? If I can go private I can get an assessment beforehand to save time. The uni in Oz has given me an extension until the 9 March 09 Are the time scales below accurate? "Your medical results have been referred, by the panel doctor, to the Medical Officer of the Commonwealth (MOC), a panel of medical experts in Australia, for assessment on 28 January 2009. Please allow up to ten working days for them to reach Health Operations Centre (HOC) and further four days for them to be assessed by the MOC. Once your medical results are received by MOC they will be assessed as quickly as possible. In the event that further information is required you will be contacted directly by our HOC." Many thanks Matt
  6. I'm an RMN and would like to move to Brissie. However, I've heard that Queensland doesn't recognise UK Psychiatric nursing qualifications. Can anyone shed some light on this, please. Also, I've sent my documents to the ANMCC this week. How quickly do they tend to process them? Thanks, John
