  1. Hi, Me my partner Lee (Electrcian) & our 3 children are in the process of moving to Perth we have just sent our paperwork off to vetasses & now waiting for thir return to uk to carry out practicals, does anyone have a rough idea when this may be? Also we were told by our agent when we 1st started off process the best visa for us to go would be a state sponser but now it seems this is in cat 2. We have family in Perth who would sponser us if need be, there are so many visa's im getting really confused . Also has anyone done the Gap training that is on offer in the uk & does this mean you get your A licence before you go to oz?? Any advice on anything would be a great help to me & my family
  2. Are they in your work place or is there some centre you attend. Is there somewhere in Scotland??
  3. is there anyone who took the carpentry practical in october i just missed out. have to wait till feb now. jusy wondering how it went
  4. Just wanted to know if anybody else is doing their Carpentry Practical Assessment in October in Accrington, Lancashire?? Hubby might just get in if we pass the paper assessment in the next couple of weeks, our agent said there are still spaces so crossing our fingers!:wubclub:
  5. We received confirmation by email from vetassess on 30.7.08 that Barry's Practical Bricklayers assessment was on 20th October 2008 at Accrington. Fortunately someone pm us from pominoz saying dates had changed. Just checked our online application with vetassess and it has changed to 27th October 2008 but no email from them to state this. Just thought if anyone else has test booked should check their dates with vetassess.
  6. I've just been on the Vetassess website and the deadline for payment for the motor mechanic practicals in October has changed from the 8th September to 15th September which is great news for people like me who has only just sent of their paper assessment today. Who knows my hubby might still get in on time. I'm :notworthy: hoping we dont have to wait til January.
  7. Hi All Just wanted to wish all of the people doing their Vetassess practical assessments over the next couple of weeks good luck and hope you all get a positive result. My hubby is doing his (Carpenter) tomorrow and really looking forward to completing this part of the journey. Im sure everyone would agree what a great support PIO as been so far and will be for the coming stresses/joys. Looking forward to everyone posting their passes, when they come through. Good luck :wubclub: Lisa

    July practicals in London

Hi, OH has now got confirmation that he has got into the plumbers July practicals in London. Still waiting though on Vetasses giving us anymore information and desperate to start trying to book travel & hotel etc as we are travelling from just outside Glasgow. Does anyone else have exact address etc so we know where abouts in London to try and find hotels. Also, has anyone else gone by plane for practicals, booking through Ryan Air from Glasgow, we can get flights for about £20 return and if we both go we will get double the baggage allowance to allow for OH to take tools and it works out cheaper than petrol costs for driving and cheaper (and quicker) than trains. Cheers Maz x
  11. Hi, Sorry to go on about this, and I know Maz already asked the question, but am really started to get concerned now, only have been hearing every day how people have dates for the practical, being London or Accrington, but nobody seems to be mentioning Glasgow. Has anyone heard anything, I keep calling my agent for my OH dates, and just get told they are in constant contact with Vetassess, and was supposed to hear yesterday (Mon), but still nothing, getting really concerned now, what with exams starting in several weeks. Thanks in advance. Andi.

    July Practicals

Hi, ive seen that the closing date for skills test in July has been extended from 2nd June in some trades. Does anybody know which trades these are as it will mean i dont have to check my emails 20 times during the night if ive got another 2 weeks to wait. Thanks Lisa x:arghh:
  14. Hey guys, can anyone tell me if they are staying overnight in Lancashire if they are doing their practical skills assessment at Rossendale Collge? If they are, what hotel are you staying at that are close enough to commute to the college? We live in Nottinghamshire, and it's too far to drive to Lancashire on the day of the test, my OH wants as little on his mind to worry about the day of the test....so if we can rule out the stress of traffic jams and getting lost on the morning he goes for his practical then that sounds good to us. He's doing his practical 14.04.08. Hope some of you can offer some advice. Many thanks in advance Jenny
  15. Wishing you all the very best of luck for 2008!! I have just had a successful result from Vetassess (see other post) Electricans and Motor mechanics -assessed at City College, Birmngham (2 days) Plumbers -assessed at London (2 days) Carpenters -assessed in Lancs (not sure where) Hope this helps all fellow tradesmen!! Bernie :radar:
  16. Hi All Just had email my OH has been booked onto the first Vetassess practical assessments on December 10th in Accrington Lancs. (Bricklayer). Just wondering whether anyone else using this site has been booked onto them too ?? It would be great to hear from anyone else in same position.
  17. Hi again, any other electricians doing the practical in December? I have mine at the Birmingham City College December 10th, nice to hear of anyone else going then too! Phil ANYONE DOING THE VETASSESS AS AN ELECTRICIAN, NOTE THAT THEY ARE ONLY DOING THE TESTS IN BIRMINHAM. We were under the impression from their websites that there are different centres and you go to the nearest to where you live, BUT it seems after receiving an email from them that the test centres are geared up to a specific trade! Hence Phil going to Birmingham when we live in the South East! (correct me if this is wrong). Bernie
