POI Canberra meet - Weston Park 30/10/11

Hi everyone, Well Sunday appeared to go well, so I have been asked by a number of people to do another one at the end of October. I may or may not be there as our 2nd son is due to come into the world on that day. However even if I don't make it I still want you all to have a good time. The venue is Weston Park, at 12 noon. I tried to give you a link to Google maps but it didn't work. Anyway, the BBQ area I am thinking of is opposite the mini railway, there is running water and loos there as well. There is also a playground for the kids plus sandpits. I think this time if you can wear a sports top from the UK then it will make it easier to be recognised as poms for any of the newbies. Let me know what you all think Nik
  2. Hello, Does anyone want to take over looking after the spreadsheets from me? I won't lie, you have to clean it up everyday. I'll do one last tidy up and pass it over if anyone is interested? If so, please let me know here. Gill is it worth setting up a google PIO account to transfer the sheets over? Thanks Drew

    Thank-you POI

Can we just say "thank-you" to everyone that has given us advise on PIO. I don't think we would have got to where we are without it. The Visa is lodged and now we are going to try forget about Visas till hopefull a CO gets in touch. This is going to be very difficult as we are going on holiday next May to The Sunshine Coast to see OH's cousin who is sponsoring us and checking out the job situation. Can't wait  Hope to be back on POI in a couple of years with good news!!! Helen and Keith

Help needed pls new to POI :-)

Hi All, My hubby has received a verbal job offer (finally) and we need some advice on what to do next... We're weighing up the feasibility of migration agents but don't know where to start and have no clue as to how much it will cost as we will be paying for everything. I read that from July 2009 457 visa applicants will require a skills assessment. That puts us in a bit of a situation as my hubby has 12 years experience but the diploma he did is not accredited, hence this route! Ideally it would probably be an idea to get the application in before July. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I'm beginning to stress! :arghh: x

    hi new to POI

Hi to Everyone First posting so go easy on me. My hubbie and me and our 2 boys have decided to take the plunge and are planning to escape to Perth. We have got an agent and have paid an initial fee last week but have yet to hear anything. Does anyone know how quick things get going once an application has begun? I am applying on a skills visa by my hairdressing qualification, are there any hairdressers who have done this and know what process is involved? Probably have another million ? to ask. very nervous and excited, would love to hear from anyone for advice etc cheers to all Aareth
  8. Most of you have read the scare -- mail about the person whose kidneys were stolen while he was passed out. Well, read on. While the kidney story was an urban legend, this one is happening every day. My thighs were stolen from me during the night a while ago. It was just that quick. I went to sleep in my body and woke up with someone else's thighs. The new ones had the texture of cooked porridge. Who would have done such a cruel thing to legs that had been mine for years? Whose thighs were these and what happened to mine? I spent the entire summer looking for my thighs. Finally, hurt and angry, I resigned myself to living out my life in jeans and Sheer Energy pantyhose. Then, just when my guard was down, the thieves struck again. My bottom was next. I knew it was the same gang, because they took pains to match my new rear end to the thighs they stuck me with earlier. I couldn't believe that my new bottom was attached at least three inches lower than my original. Now, my rear complemented my legs, lump for lump. Frantic, I prayed that long skirts would stay in fashion. It was two years ago when I realized my arms had been switched. One morning I was fixing my hair and I watched horrified but fascinated as the flesh of my upper arms swung to and fro with the motion of the hairbrush. This was really getting scary. My body was being replaced one section at a time. How clever and fiendish. Age? Age had nothing to do with it. Age is supposed to creep up, unnoticed, something like maturity. NO, I was being attacked repeatedly and without warning. In despair, I gave up my T-shirts. What could they do to me next? My poor neck suddenly disappeared faster than the Christmas turkey it now resembled. That's why I decided to tell my story. I can't take on the medical profession by myself. Women of the world wake up and smell the coffee. That really isn't plastic that those surgeons are using. You KNOW where they are getting those replacement parts, don't you? The next time you suspect someone has had a face "lifted", look again. Was it lifted from you? I think I finally found my thighs - and I hope that Cindy Crawford paid a really good price for them! This is not a hoax. This is happening to women in every town every night. WARN YOUR FRIENDS! P.S. I must say that last year I thought someone had stolen my breasts. I was lying in bed and they were gone! As I jumped out of bed, I was relieved to see that they had just been hiding in my armpits as I slept. Now I keep them hidden in my waistband. You have been warned!

    Wish Me Luck POI

Evening blessings to all! Well guys, this is it. Tomorrow evening 5.45 I am going to my beloved Kidney Stone consultant who is going to give me an "opinion" about my stone problems and how they might impact my chances of going over to Adelaide and being part of Lazy Cow's Ye Olde Mad Cow Club. For those interested in the meds side of things . I have had a thyroid test which has shown that mt thyroid is "borderline" so they have UPPED my meds. This only goes to show how negligent they have been 'cos this is the first time they have shown an interest since 2005!!!!! Don't know how this info will effect my application but I am being charged 20.00 quid for the honour !!! As for the D & C I had seven years ago. I have phoned the hospital who thought it was a real joke!!!! They have given me the name of the poor consultant who did the honours all those years ago, but as the panel doc has asked for Histology (don't know what that is????) and the hospital have told me that with a routine miscarriage you don't get a histology, unless its a medical emergency at the time, its anyones' guess what happens now!!!! All I know is that this has cost me an extra 550 pounds not to mention all the stress! I will let you know what the Urology Boffin says, but quite frankly I've had a total guts full of the whole thing. I am the one that's having to do all the chasing around and the mediacl peeps who have obviously been caught with their pants down are raking in the money. All I can say is that these are the hoops that have to be jumped through so I will jump!!! I am determined to get that bloody visa one way or the other but I still can't believe the level of detail that I am being asked to produce..and nor can any of the medical profession except for the Panel Doctor!!!!!! I only wish it was made this difficult for all the thousands of immigrants who come to this country....but of course it isn't and thats one of the reasons we want to leave. Sorry but rant is over. Going to quaff Holy Water!!!!
