  1. Ballajura AFC is a football (soccer) club based at Kingfisher Reserve in Ballajura, (in Perths northern suburbs), where it has its own clubroom, full bar and catering facilities. Established 15 years ago the club has a strong set up with several hundred juniors (up to under 16 level), a masters team , ladies team and a Senior team who have just been promoted to Amateur Division 1 for 2009. Also in 2008, the Senior reserves won their League and the under 16 team were top 4 champions. The club is ambitious and is targeting further success and promotion to the Amateur Premier League. In order to support this objective and to take the club forward Ballajura is conducting an active player recruitment drive before the 2009 season starts in late March. The club is seeking to recruit experienced senior amateur or ex semi pro players for addition to the first team squad. Ballajura is an ambitious and forward thinking club. We have already recruited a number of new migrant players last season who helped in the clubs successful promotion to division 1 If you feel you fit the requirements and are interested in taking on this challenge please contact me to discuss. 2. Two teams .......with one goal..........to put an end to this North / South divide....... I have a proposal and that is we build two teams ,simlpy called SOR(blue) & NOR (red),its serious but at the same time friendly and fun,4 matches per yr, 2 SOR, 2 NOR....(subject to change)......Venues TBA......first game will be a trial ,maybe a couple of beers after the match ect ...... there will be NO violence no HARD tackling, contact yes but we all need to be able to work the day after, otherwise i may as well organize a boxing match !Any violence /fighting and that player/players will be kicked out and disgraced...:policeman: A referee would be good , probs someone who likes football but not up to it and still wants to be involved ect ...? Age...? Im a veteran,do we need 20 yr old whipper snippers ...? i think most on here are 30 + ..... You dont have to be a professional ect , its just a game ......... between 35/45 mins per half depending on number of players and the weather .. Matches to be played on a Sunday ,time TBA... Fly subs ,so we can all have a break if needed Keeper can be changed at any time ,as long as the referee has been informed first...!!! I will manage SOR for now ,NOR will need to sort your own out , SOR kick abouts ect will be arranged prior to matches so we can get familiar with each other ...... If your up for this get in touch on the thread ,im sure we all have a mate or two who would be interested if the forum cant get enough , i know i can if needed for SOR and probs one or two for NOR .............. This can work as ive done it before in the uk , two rival groups in my local use to play each other after a Sunday session in the local and that proved to be so popular that we formed an official Sunday league, was better than playing in the Wythenshawe league as nobody was out to break your legs ect ........ Feel free if you would like to add to this chaps....... Please dont turn this into a slanging thread its for football only .......

  5. Hello, We're just about to start playing five-a-side (futsal) on a Sunday evening in Carlton and we need a couple more players. Should be good for a laugh and a few beers afterwards so if you're interested then let me know. Cheers, John
  6. So missed out on the Mindarie home I had my heart set on today. There were only two conforming applicantions so missing out on a 50/50 is fairly disheartening - although the agent was very encouraging about the strength of my application. So what were other people's experiences in this area. How many applications did you put in before you found a home? How do you make yours stand out? Did you offer more than the requested rent? Is that even allowed? Would appreciate some advice in this area.

  9. OK, the title of this thread is a little misleading, I mentioned the word 'Players' in the thread title, when in reality I try, but more often than not my own pathetic attempts would send many an expert running for the outback,:notworthy::notworthy:. But seriously, I have played,:biglaugh: the Didge for many years, no where enough work put in this end, but I still try to get better and better each time I pick it (them) up. To me (here we go again) it perfectly sums up what Australia is often envisioned in our (my) minds, it can be cathartic, emotional, exciting, everything in actual fact. A very quick browse through the history books will show what a magical instrument this is, the history and culture behind the Didge (and its variants) is truly amazing, and when played properly takes me back to many a happy memory spent daydreaming in the outback, (have I mentioned this before,:embarrassed:). If you want a musical instrument to learn then the Didge may be for you. Yes, it is fairly difficult to learn, but the main hurdle is to learn how to 'Circular Breath', but once this is overcome then the sounds and noised you can make are remarkable. I do not pretend to know everything of the instrument, but its history, development and playing have fascinated me for several years, who knows, if I ever think I am good enough I 'may' stick something on You Tube, just make sure you have ear plugs at the ready,:embarrassed::biglaugh::biglaugh:. Cheers Tony.

  17. Outdoor 11-a-side football (soccer) team require new players for next season. We have two mens teams playing every Saturday (1st team and reserves) and two thirds mens teams every Sunday. Home games are played in Cheltenham although we have players commuting from the city/st kilda if you live that way and need lifts... On top of this we have several junior sides covering a ranges of ages and are looking at potentially setting up a ladies term for next season. If you are not aware of how the leagues operate, the season runs roughly from early April until September and we start pre-season in January. We currently plan to have social drinks on Sunday 17th January for a meet & greet for old & new players with the first pre-season training being on Tuesday 19th January. The mens teams train once or twice a week on Tuesday and/or Thursday although not an issue if you can't make all the training. It will depend on which team you are looking to play for... Our seniors and reserves have been promoted and due to a few retirements they are on the look out for some good new acquisitions. Our thirds teams which is more social and informal (but serious) have also lost a few players for next season as some of our players have moved back overseas to Ireland/England. We will therefore be looking to recruit new players, preferably with some decent experience. All nationalities welcome. If you are interested at all, please drop me an e-mail and give me some brief details and I can fill you in further. Thanks Gareth gareth_pollard@hotmail.com Bayside Argonauts Football Club

  22. Hi guys. ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A GOOD FOOTBALL CLUB? My name is Bill Byrne and I am the Senior Coach at Ballajura FC. We play in the Football West Div 1 Sunday Amateur League and we have real aspirations to gaining promotion to the Amateur Premier League this season (starts April). For the past couple of seasons we have been successful in adding to our strong squad from experienced and talented football players who have come from the UK/Ireland and we have several players at the club who have come to us this way and have enjoyed their time with us. Our current squad comprises of a number of talented local lads and a few ex pro / semi pro from UK/Irl. It is a really good atmosphere at the club and we have a great team spirit among all the lads. We are always looking for more players who are either here on working visas or who are here to stay. If you are looking to join a very competitive and talented club who like to play good football then give me a call. Our pre season training starts next Tuesday Jan 27 at 7pm Regards to all BILL BYRNE Senior Coach BALLAJURA FC Mobile: 0439 953 957 e-mail: bill.byrne@hotmail.com

    Football players wanted

Having had an excellent response to previous posts on this and other ex pat forums I am encouraged to keep bringing Ballajura FC to the attention on all you poms (and Irish) out there who may have just arrived in WA or who may even be settled here now and are looking to play a good standard of football at a well run local club (NOR). Without boring everyone to death with a long post I will simply say that Ballajura (Balla) has it's roots firmly in the UK and Ireland and has a big representation of players, coaches and officials from there. The club has been quite successful in the past couple of years and is looking to strengthen its squad even further by recruiting from new migrants or established players who enjoy a club who play good football, have excellent facilities and enjoy a good social scene as well. We start pre season in January. Meanwhile I hope ypu all have a great Christmas and New Year - Be safe! Call or e-mail me... :emoticon-signxmas: Bill Byrne - Senior Coach Mobile: 0439 953 957 / e-mail: bill.byrne@hotmail.com
