  1. My OH has been working away from home for quite a while now and one side effect of this is I don't really socialise as much as I used to..........or have people around for a bbq as much.It is just not the same with him away[especially the food, he is a chef]. So rather than become a recluse I have decided to organise one big whopper of a bbq right here on PIO.[maybe the worlds biggest???] All are welcome to attend.......all you need to do is bring a plate and a few scoops. The only catch is you cannot bring the exact same dish or drink as someone else. I will set things off by bringing some Whiskey Grilled Pork Ribs and a fine big bottle of 90% proof Irish Poitin[moonshine].That should get the craic goin'. What will you bring to the party?

    Private plate

If we was to leave our merc here in the uk can we have our private plate on our car in oz??? How does this work
  3. What do you reckon to personlised number plates, are they just an extension of someone's personality or are they in some way saying, 'Look at me'.. I have had many runs in with many numbty drivers, you know the ones where they believe that indication is for morons, where lane discipline is a sport and not a driving skill, etc, etc. Some had personlised number plates and some didn't, but it 'seems' that those with a private number plates often treated the road as theirs and their alone.:wubclub: I have often sat there in my car and seen some peoples driving that was truly gob smacking, and often the number plate read, 'KING 1' or 'STAG 69' and I would look at these plates and think, 'What that should read is **** 1'. This is a tongue in cheek thread folks, (to a degree) so what do you reckon, personlised number plates, good bad or couldn't care less. Cheers Tony:wink:
  4. Hi guys, Im selling my UK car tomorrow in preperation for the big move in September. It has a private plate on it and that goes with the car. Does anybody know if I have to do anything to transfer it over to the new owner? Ive checked the DVLA website and it seems to say nothing about my situation, its all about transferring the plate to a new vehicle or storing it. Anybody been in the same situation? advice appreciated. Cheers Ad
  5. Tx to all those who replied to my earlier post on car rego. Just collected the new Oz number plates this morning. Unfortunately the British number plates were wider than the Oz ones, so we need to find some kind of frame/holder for the new number plate that can then be screwed onto the existing holes in the car. Cannot drill new holes in the car for the Oz plate as the car is made of fibreglass (TVR). If anyoone else had the same problem would be grateful if you could let me know how you got around it?? tx!
  6. We have had our very first invite to an Aussie event. It is a Christmas party in our close (only lived here a few weeks so don't really know anyone yet) and the invite says "BYO and bring a plate". I presume that BYO means bring your own beer/wine etc but what does bring your own plate mean? Does it mean take a plate of food (which I presume it does) and if so, should I bring a plate for each of us (two adults and two very small children) or just one. What food? Meat, salad, pasta what?! I don't want to be the idiot who gets it wrong!

  8. Hi all, Its time to get rid of my beloved Vauxhall Astra SRI 2.0 Turbo 54 plate. 55,000 miles. 18" Alloys, CD / Radio, Electric Front Windows, A/C, Airbags all over the place, 6 Gears + Reverse, Sports button for a more responsive drive, also included at no extra cost a cigar lighter (new cars you pay extra) and all the normal stuff like doors windows, bonnet, boot, engine etc I bought this direct from PLP Vauxhall it was six months old at the time. I will post some pics of it soon, but want to see if there is any interest out there first. We are looking for £5000 ono, I am in Warrington, Cheshire. If you want anymore info please do not hesitate to contact me. Regards Steve
