  3. Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and i've done a bit of reading up on here and on the tinternet about emergrating to oz and carrying on with my current job here in the uk as a heavy plant operator. I've got all my cpcs tickets here in the uk and have 7 yrs experience working in different sites and jobs. I've worked in quarries ( sand and gravel and hard rock quarries, aggregate wharfs on docks) landfill sites, and earthmoving. i hold cpcs tickets in the uk which are the top ones for excavators, bull dozers, wheeled loading shovels, articulated dump trucks and telescopic handler which is a rough tarrien forklift. i've seen a post on hear about some firms struggling to get employees for some of the more remote sites in oz and i just wondered what are the chances or from any past exerience of you folks are the chances of me getting a ticket to come to work in oz? Any infomation anyone could give me or any hints or tips would be gratefuly recieved. Many thanks Andy.

  9. Hi all, Considering moving the family to Oz, The missus is a hairdresser and would probably be on her visa as plant ops dont seem to be on the skills list. We would probably be looking to move to the sunshine coast but Perth is also a possibility. Im wondering about my job prospects, I am fully CPCS certified with over 13 years of experience on a wide range of plant, I also have nvq in plant operations from the national construction college and hold a full hgv licence with over 5 years experience in heavy haulage and tipper work. Are these qualifications transferable? and if not what would be invoved in gaining the relevant quailifications in Oz, and costs? Any advice would be much apreciated. Cheers John.

    Explosion at Nuclear Plant France

PARIS: The French nuclear safety body and local authorities say an explosion has rocked the Marcoule nuclear plant in southern France. It was not immediately clear how serious the accident was, or whether there were any victims or the potential for leaks. Evangelia Petit of the Agency for Nuclear Safety said Monday an explosion had taken place but declined to provide any further details. Officials in the Gard region confirmed Monday’s explosion but also said they could not give any more information. The Marcoule site is located in Langedoc Roussillon, in southern France, near the Mediterranean Sea.

Mothers day Plant & flower sale

Hope its OK to promote this on here  Next Saturday at the Monbulk RSL, the local cubs & scouts are holding their annual Mothers day plant & flower sale. There is always an excellent range of plants all at the right price donated by all the local growers, and I am organizing cut flowers for bouquets for all the mums again from all the local growers here in the hills, so you can really give mum a treat without breaking the bank. There is also a sausage sizzle and in the RSL itself they are holding an indoor market. If you have nothing to do next Saturday, why not pop up to the hills for a lovely day out and support our boys and girls at the same time. hope to see a few of you there next week.
  12. Hi guys and girls, has anyone emigrated as a mobile plant operator i.e loading shovel, dozer driver, dump truck operator, etc? I know quit e a few states have Mobile Plant Operator on their SMPs, but i'm not quite sure where the best place for work is. I have done some research on WA and SA, and understand there is work in other places. I can't really firm up my plans until i have an idea of where the work is though. Anybody who has done this, or knows about it, and could offer advice, would be greatly appreciated. Cheers for now  James P

    Plant Identification

This morning a very unusual plant appeared in my (Sydney, Lower North Shore) garden. It grew overnight to about 5cm long. No leaves just a few stems of what you see in the picture. They just lifted away from the base with almost no force at all. The really interesting thing is that they smell very strongly like "dog poo" Anyone got any idea what they are called either cooloquially or Latin name.

  22. can anyone tell me if there is a call for someone who drives heavy goods vehicles and heavy plant machinery i . excavators i am trying to find out if there is a call for this line of work in oz thanks for any replies
  23. Basically thats what I am trained in and I will be looking for a position like this when we get over next March/April. I do have an option to come over early if sponsorship is available and I expect my skilled visa to be ready in the new year. My family and I are looking to relocate to SE Brisbane so anything upto an hour commuting is good. If you could keep your ears and eyes open if you are already over in Oz it would be great. I have registered with a couple of Agencies and I have around 7 months to go so lets see what happens. Be Lucky Tricky & Family
