Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice... Last year I was sponsored by my employer for a 457 visa, however due to the HR assistant not knowing much about immigration she just put down for 18months and thought we could extend it later. Not as easy as it sounds as they would need to nominate me for a 457 again and we would have to pay the fee. We want to apply for PR however we are 6 months short on our current 457. Yesterday a friend said, you can apply for PR through the direct entry scheme. I am a primary teacher and am on the consolidated list. When I was completing my 457, I submitted my degree for a skills assessment however it wasn't actually needed for the 457. Does this help when applying for the 186 visa? I would appreciate any advice on what the best option is as I really want to get the ball rolling! Cheers, Allison

Permanent residency issues/ Criminal record/ Medical and Marijuana
RasNas posted a topic in Visa Chat
Hello my family is applying for permanent residency for Australia and all was well until a couple of days ago where I was caught with possession of a marijuana... I asked the police officer if this could be traced by Australia and they assured me that it couldn't and was the lowest possible thing they could give me, like a street warning or street caution, all I had to do was sign a paper and I was free to go. They said it would be on the system for police officers only and if I was caught re offending then it would be a criminal record. Were they lying? (Which I don't doubt because I was tripping on LSD at the time and they may have not wanted to give me a really bad trip) One more ore question, does it matter if THC is found in the body when going for a medical? Or do they not even bother checking for it? Thanks!- 2 replies
