  1. Air passenger duty: avoid it by hopping to Europe - Telegraph
  2. If someone is making an initial validation trip for their permanent resident visa (i.e. staying only for a limited time such as two weeks and then returning to their current country), and not actually moving to Australia (nor becoming a resident for tax purposes) until a few months later, (a) how do they answer the following question on the Incoming Passenger Card: "Do you intend to live in Australia for the next 12 months?" - Yes/No (b) And on the Outgoing Passenger Card when leaving Australia on this validation trip, does a person say that they are a "Visitor or temporary entrant departing" or "Australian resident departing temporarily" ? For those of you who have made a validation trip, how did you answer these questions on the Passenger Cards?

    Incoming Passenger Card

Hi I have been looking at the yellow/pink incoming passenger cards you fill out when entering Australia I am coming to Oz on a Working holiday visa. I am worried that i dont have the answer to some of the questions on there? Intended address - I dont know (im in a hotel for a week) Lenght of stay/do i intend to stay for 12 months - I have no idea. Might be there for 6 months or a full 12 months if i can find work Main reason for coming? - Holiday, to visit a mate and find work maybe if i can?? If i can find some work and sponsorship i intend to stay in Oz indefinatley..... will filling this in incorrectly affect my visa (457) applications in the future? It wont be that im filling it in wrong... its just i dont know the answers??? Im a little worried. Do i just assume im only going to be there for 6 weeks and put that down.... or do i assume i will find work and fill the form in as such??? worried and confused Thanks MM
  4. Hi,I think I made a huge mistake and I am wondering if it will seriously effect our visa application.I am fairly sure that my OH's criminal record will not effect the application (it was over 20 years ago,he was under 18 and the offences were not too serious)but I now have concerns about the online tourist visa that we obtained to travel to Oz twice. We did not declare any convictions on these, although the first visa was done by a travel agent and they did not ask us anything about convictions. My second concern is those pesky yellow custom cards that you fill in just before you land .We cant for the life of us remember what boxes we ticked on those.I guess we just assumed that the convictions were spent, although I know that everything has to be declared on the application. All these concerns have come about over the weekend ,and this morning when I read Gollywobblers post about refused visa appeals.Although visas were refused because of serious crimes i.e manslaughter, firearms, staying in Oz without proper visa e.tc,some of my issues crop up as well. Sorry to ramble on,but I feel sick right now,do we give up now or do we carry and hope for the best.We are trying to do all this without an agent, although I may change my mind!I would really appreciate some advice please, before my head explodes or I burst into tears!:sad:Sarah ++++
