  1. Hey! So I've just moved to Brisbane from the UK, I'm on a skilled migrant visa (from my dad - and the rest of my family live in Melbourne) so I'm a permanent resident, and I've just applied for my tax-file number which is being processed. I'm 25 and a circus artist (so I know a few people and have sent e-mails to relevant people in that industry) but what I'm wondering about is getting a part time job in a cafe or something, I have experience working in a cafe as a waitress but am not a barista (sadly), I'm only here for 3 months then I have to go back to the UK for a tour and so I would be looking for something super short term, I know a lot of people backpack in Australia so I was thinking that it might be relatively easy to find that kind of work but I was just wondering if anyone has done that or if that's a totally unreasonable expectation that I have? Or if there is anything I should do to make myself more employable on the short-term? Or if anyone knows of short-term work either artistic or just general that I could get involved in? Or if anyone wants to go for a coffee? - just putting that out there. Any advice would be welcome! Thanks, Michelle
  2. Looking for graphic design/illustrator job part-time in rural Victoria. Should I give up now? Was freelancing in Brisbane until my husband got his job down in Traralgon. So would like to continue my career. Any possible solutions welcomed. I have thought about own business but I don't really know where to start. See link to see how far I got? http://www.redbubble.com/people/sarahtrett :spinny:

  6. Hi Brizzy Folk I work for a Brisbane based company (we're in the Valley) dealing in bingo software, websites, and products. I'm looking for someone to help with posting online articles and content onto our websites. The role can be part time or full time. The role is quite repetitive so you need to be into administration and repetition:cute:. But most of all, we really need someone who knows bingo and who loves bingo! Most of our clients are in the UK, so it always helps to get some local UK knowledge too. Unfortunately I don't think this role is on the skilled list for 457 visas, but we can consider people on working holiday visas or people who have already migrated here if you're interested in permanent work. The role pays about $40K + super (full time equivalent). The position closes next Thursday 9th April, so just contact me through this site if you're interested. Chris
  7. Well, the title says it all really:smile: I'd be on a student visa so it would be 20 hours max. I'd like to do some office-type work, something related to what I am studying (business and/or tourism) but I guess if worse comes to worse I can always fall back on retail:biglaugh: After studying, if I want to stay in Australia, I need to find a company to sponser me... is that the only way to stay? Is it hard to find a job without a bachelor's degree (I'm doing an advanced diploma)?
  8. Hi Everyone, We are seriously considering emigrating, possibly to either WA or Vic because both places sponsor teachers. However, I understand that you need to have studied at uni for 4 years at least. My degree was past-time, taking 6 years. Does anyone know if this still counts? I would be looking to teach science at secondary. The alternative would be my husband's trade - electric motors which, again are there vacancies, & if there is, are they in particular locations. He's an old fart too being born May 1965! Any help would be great! Adele
