    ENS 186 Ack Letter?

Hiya, I went back to the UK for Christmas and returned to Sydney to an email from my RMA saying that my ENS 186 visa was lodged on 21 December 2012. Their email stated "We advise that the Department will not be able to provide on-going status advice about a lodged 186 visa application. The Department will contact us if any further information / documentation is required. Otherwise, the Department will proceed to the finalisation of your application in due course." However, I've read on this forum that some people received a letter of acknowlegement - would I receive this or does it go to the RMA? The only reason I'm bothering you with this question is that I have received no answer at all from the agent's office. They are not very forthcoming with information at all which is shocking as I've just paid them close to $6000!!! Any help is much appreciated along with any current processing times for a 'decision ready' application for the ENS 186 visa at the Parramatta office. All medical, police/birth certificates were submitted mid-last year. Thanks for your time! Cat

    RSMS Applications - Parramatta Office

Hi Guys, Like so many others out there I am waiting for my 187 RSMS Visa to be assessed! I applied offshore from a low risk country, through an agent and has been lodged through the Parramatta Centre. My application has been lodged as Decision Ready. Here is my timeline so far: 4/09/2012 Nomination Certified 9/09/2012 Medical Completed And Sent Directly To Parramatta Office (At Agents Request) 15/09/2012 Nomination Lodged 15/09/2012 Visa Application Lodged 28/10/2012 ACK Letter For Valid Nomination Received 7/11/2012 ACK Letter For Valid Visa Received Now waiting to be assigned a CO!! It would be good to hear from other applications through Parramatta after the July backlog. From what I can see, this office seems to be progressing at a more reasonable speed than the others.
  3. Elsewhere, someone was criticising two of Sydney's 'gems'! Well, nobody would ever call Parra Road pretty but it is Sydney's historic route to Parrmatta, going back over two hundred years now. I would never enjoy driving it in the rush hour but outside of that it's not unpleasant to travel and you certainly get to see a lot of Sydney. I think you'll find that all the big cities have their own version too. Redfern? I used to say that I would not venture there after dark without an armed guard but it has much changed over the last few years. There were always some pleasant historic terrace-lined streets - George and Pitt - the same George & Pitt in the CBD - and the narrow streets in between. You can't beat a location so close to the City and to Sydney Uni & Technology Park. I got off the train one Friday night about 9pm, stopped for a meal in Redfern Street, then carried on walking back to Surry Hills. There's a new & trendy little quarter around the corner of Chalmers & Redfern Sts - pubs, cafes, restaurants. I often do my supermarket shopping at Woolies opposite Redferen Oval beacause it's the one supermarket where I can park right outside the shop. Maybe I just look at Sydney through those rose-coloured binoculars and I'm looking from the wrong end. I've said it before - it's Australia's 'Big Apple'!

    Parramatta area, advice please

Hi everyone, We are hoping to secure a job offer in Parramatta and wondered if anyone could tell us where would be a good place to look to settle if we get the job? We have 2 kids aged at the moment 3 and 12. Schools very important. We like the village type feel, somewhere that would have its own local shopping not a big sprawling housing estate. And probably close to good transport links as we would like to be able to travel into Sydney at weekends with the kids. rental wise we would spend up to about $450 per week? Many thanks Kelly and Jamie
