Hi all. We're considering moving to Oz next year after our wedding (perhaps after Christmas), and one of the things I remember my OH's mother saying was that dogs are restricted in Gold Coast. I checked their website and sure enough, you have to have so much land to keep dogs. I'm a Miniature Schnauzer breeder and also show, so I'm concerned that having three dogs will cause me trouble (it will probably be very expensive to ship them over too, but we can handle that). I'm in the position to just have two (my bitch is having a litter in a few months and I'm hoping there'll be a pup good enough to show in the litter which, if so, I would keep), but I'm just hoping to get some feedback with people who have moved over to Aus with three dogs. Also, how much is it approximately to board your dogs at the quarentine kennels? I would be staying in Sydney with my brother and his fiance so I could see them each day and such. Any advice would be great!

Probably a long shot on here, but wondering if anyone has any experience of owning a horse in more arid/desert regions? I am a very keen horse rider at the moment but can't currently afford my own in the UK. I'm hoping that once we move and I am earning more I will be able to get one in Kalgoorlie. Horse riding is popular there but I feel I have a lack of knowledge about horsekeeping. I'm used to turning out horses in grassy paddocks and dealing with mud fever, neither of which are particularly relevant in a desert! I know there's issues with dry feet, and sand ingestion/colic due to feeding on the ground. Just wondering if anyone else has adjusted to a different horse culture out there and if you have any advice?

Hi all, My wife-to-be and are in the process of applying for our Visa (which we believe will now be schedule 2) - if and when the Government/ DIAC pull their finger out, and (touch wood) we get granted our visa we wanted to look into potentially buying or starting a business in the land down under. Seeing as my OH has a wealth of qualifications and experience in the food and catering industry, it would make sense, if we were looking down this road, to look into restaurants/ cafes etc My question is, for newcomers coming into the country, how realistic would it be for us to be able to achieve this? Bearing in mind we would have some money, but not enough to buy outright so things like business loans etc would need to be considered. Anyways would like to know your thoughts/ experiences and any advice, as always is very gratefully received! :radar: Thanks Ben

Hi all, wondering if anyone can help us? Hubby has just swapped his Lambretta for a vespa, not thinking about the length of owning it we are now wondering if we have to Own it for a year before we import it to OZ or if we can take it sooner. He got it in July and we were looking at moving next april/may, will we have to wait till july? Does anyone know how much it will cost and could we put it in a 20ft container with the rest of our stuff. Many thanks

Does anyone know if there are any tax implications of owning two homes? We have our UK home on the market (so we have no income from that, only expenditure there - mortgage which is covered by savings that we have left un the UK), but have been looking at buying a house here to live in. Basically we are looking for a renovation project, and if we see something we like, may go for it. But I wondered, if we did that, would we be stung for tax on the sale of our UK house?
