  1. Just wanted to get some views on what to put down on this section of the B534. We have bought stuff in the last 12 months, as I guess everyone does. However, I get the feeling that this section of the form is designed to deal with people importing bulk items for re-sale (or importing large quantities for personal use etc) I've bought stuff in the last 12 months (electricals mainly) and intended to use all the original boxes for transport. Anyone got any view advice on what to do. I get the impression that most people are fairly economical with the truth when completing this section (but I may be wrong). Any advise would be welcome. Ta Joker
  2. Has anyone managed to import a car on a 457 Visa when they have not owned it for a full 12 months BEFORE they moved to OZ? Unfortunatley when I relocate to Melbourne at the end of July I'll only have owned the vehicle for 10 months :-( So I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? Fergal
  3. Hi there i have a job opportunity in melbourne that has come up all of a sudden and i need to be out there pre christmas. I want to take my bmw bike and car with me. I have owned the car for more than 3 years and it is a rhd uk spec car, the r1200gs is just 2 months in my ownership. I will initially be a temp visa of some sort and then a 457 once that gets cleared. I am needed out in melbourne asap and the agents they have designated to help are not sure about what happens in this case, they are trying to help, but i wondered if anyone could advise on here. I believe i can take both once i have a 457 but not sure initially. This i'm sure will be the first of many posts. Anyone with a room and space in the garage let me know!
  4. Hi All, We are moving to Perth hopefully in June/July this year. We have PR visas, which we validated last June, and have bought a plot of land, which has been paid for. (We've remortgaged here, and hope to let it for a couple of years, before we decide where to settle.) Does anyone know if we will be able to get a mortgage to build a house using the value of the land, before my husband gets a job, so that we can get on with the process of building the house before waiting for him to get a job and for a few months salary to come in? Also, can anyone give us a rough idea of any other living costs in the first few months, such as deposit for a rental, rent for 3 months, cost of buying and running a 2nd hand car, bills, food etc. We hope to get somewhere in the northern suburbs of Perth, and need at least 3 bedrooms. Thirdly, we have a new baby who I am just in the process of applying for a passport and a sponsorship visa for. I know we have to declare that we will provide for her for the first two years and that we can't claim benefits, which we wouldn't be wanting to do anyway. However, does anyone know if this includes family allowance? Do you get any child benefit in Oz at all, or not? I know we would be able to get medicare support which is good. Any advice, answers to all or part of this message will be gratefully received. Cheers, The jp's
