    457 and onshore/offshore visa

Hey all, First of all, thanks for all the great info on this site, it's a godsend! I am in a bit of a quandary. I have a job offer from a company in Oz on the basis that I would be coming in on a defacto visa. However, they have made it clear that I could get sponsored for a 457 if needed. Job to start February. I wasn't clear on the defacto visa requirements when I first contacted them, and now realise that I can't apply for it until December, so it won't be processed in time. So my questions are: Can I apply for an OFFSHORE defacto in the UK, then travel and start work on the 457 while it gets processed? Would I be better off applying for an ONSHORE defacto visa after I arrive on the 457? EDIT: Oops! Left the word 'defacto' out of the thread title. Can I edit it? The onshore visa is more expensive from what I can tell, but I don't have much idea on how long it would take to process. The offshore would require me leaving the country and then coming back in to validate it I think. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to work on the 457 while it's being processed though. I'm also eligible for a working holiday visa, which is also potentially an option. Does anyone have any knowledge of the processing times for an ONSHORE visa? I've emailed the immigration office in London but no reply as yet. Cheers Rob

    Spouse Visa Onshore/Offshore

I posted this in another thread but i think it's got a bit lost ...... Can someone help me with this one.... If I apply for a spouse visa in Perth in December when I’m back there for a month on a tourist visa - The tourist visa is valid until June 2011 Can I leave on the tourist visa and return on the tourist visa once the spouse visa is approved? Or would I need to get a new Tourist Visa that would be valid from Dec 2010 to Dec 2011 in case the processing takes longer Also, I know I need to be in Perth once the visa is granted, does this mean I can 'collect' the visa anytime after it is granted or does it mean I would have to be in Perth on the day it is granted???? TIA
  3. Hi Which visa is processed quicker onshore or offshore application? :err: Thanks Emma
