The major sites when looking online for a car are.. http://www.carsales.com.au http://www.carsguide.com.au (allows you to sell your car for free) http://www.carpoint.com.au http://www.drive.com.au Note: Expect to pay double the price for the same car in Oz, than what you would pay in the UK. This is because of high taxes. On a sunny side though, petrol in oz is about 3x times cheaper than in the UK.

Hey Everyone, I wondered if there is anyone out there who has been in the same situation as us. We have not used a migration agent and lodged our 457 visa application ourselves using the immi-account online. This was done 2 weeks ago. We are struggling to understand the 'status' of our application because the website is somewhat ambigious and illogical. To put you in the picture here are the points of contention: 1. We uploaded a number of document attachments in support of our 457 application, after logging back into the account we noticed that the attachments have the progress status as 'received' but at the same time there is a small blue highlighted question mark next to each attachment, when we click on these blue question marks, it tells us the requirements of the attached documents. We are not sure if this is the case officer requesting the correct documents because our initial uploaded is wrong? or this is just a generic general guideline that pops up after you have uploaded your attachments. 2. We are confused because there has been no correspondence from the account, so we are not even sure if the status of the application has actually even been viewed by a human eye!? which leads us to believe the 'blue questions mark' are a automatic generic pop up, but then what makes it ambigious is that for one of the attachment (marriage certificate) there is no 'blue question mark' which then leads us to think someone has deliberately left out no question mark there. So does it mean some human eye (case officer ) has looked at our application and deliberately assigned those 'blue question marks' to only those that need attention to tell us to reload the correct attachment documents. 3. What adds to the confusion is that above the attachment progress column, there is a sentence that basically says 'not all attachment are required or necessary and only a status of 'required' is when attachments needs to be provided. Well all our attachments just says 'received' which makes me think its ok, because it doesn't say 'required' however then what is the point of the blue question marks being there?, because it feels like they are personal requests from the case officer to get more documents uploaded! but then why don't the case officer write us a correspondence to tell us specifically that you are required to re-submit these documents? I'm really confused by the ambiguity of the mix messages of how the eVISA process is presented, I would be grateful if there is anyone out there who has gone through this progress and can throw a light on the interpretation of the website and its presentation of the status of your online visa. Its important for us know because if those 'blue questions marks' are direct action requests from a case officer (and not a generic guideline) then we need to get alot of 'certified documents uploaded' that can cost alot of money and time, which if it is not necessary we don't want to do. Looking for any experienced advice please, tearing our hairs out with stress as to what this online eVISA is all about. It really doesn't help either that there is no correspondence from a case officer and no direct way of contacting the immigration for answers (if anyone has contacts for this purpose I would also appreciate it if they can share that too). Thanks a bunch in advance to all you lovely helpful people :-).

Just trying to select seats online with Qantas and pay $50 for the privilege and every time I get an error - "Invalid address. Please check the characters and the length of the text in the address fields. (4607 - 15623)" I have tried every combination of address (UK address) and I always get the same error. The address is correct and matches the credit card used. I can log in via frequent flyer membership and select seats and no address is requested but still I get the same error. Seems impossible to get through on the phone to Qantas - over 60 minutes wasted there. E-mail (when you can find it !) to Qantas gets an auto reply saying "will endeavour to respond to your e-mail as quickly as possible" but no-one actually comes back to you. Anyone else had this problem or know how to resolve it ? Qantas - do you ever read these forums ? Why are you so useless ? Thanks for reading.

Online postgraduate courses providers in Australia. Any opinion ?
Cedric posted a topic in Education
Hi everybody. I haven't been online for a while. Hope you people are all doing alright  As the thread's title suggests, I will start a postgraduate degree online from january on in order to diversify my skills and job opportunities when in Australia. Being interested in environmental management, I have considered so far the following providers: Maquarie, UNE, university of Newcastle and Edit Cowan, all proposing online postgraduates courses in environmental or wildlife management. I have so far search trough this site http://www.gooduniguide.com.au/ and e-mailed all the providers to get more informations, but since the required investment is huge I would be interested to learn about other people experiences or advices, comments on e.g reputation, things I should be aware of, etc.. Thanks in advance :notworthy:, Cedric -
I completed the online application for a student visa, completed the medicals, paid the fees etc. A message appeared on the application status page, saying that further info is required. I did not receive an email with info about this, so I also used the 'contact the department' function, but haven't received a reply after almost a week. Does anyone know if it is possible to contact the office (western australia) another way, like to phone them to inquire? as they only indicate phone number to be used within Australia. Or will they still email me to indicate what is needed? although I have been waiting a week since the message appeared on my online status...

Hi All, I'm still in the process of filling in the online form for a GSM sc175 and I'm stuck on the question "Have you been to Australia......" The problem is that all my family have been at least once but we went on an ETA - the last time was Feb 2010. There doesn't seem to be an option for this as it seems to ask about proper visas - If I select 'Other' then it still wants a place of issue? We haven't got any details of the ETA either. Also my wife even had a Working Visa back in 1987, but can't remember where it was issued from.... My question is do I just say that 'No' we haven't been to Australia? I obviously don't want to lie but saying yes means that I can't complete the form without completing information I don't know!? Can anyone who has filled the form in help me please?

Might not be delivered in time for Christmas!! Its only the 6th December for Gods sake!! What I wouldnt give for the equivalent of Tesco.com or Argos online.......

Hi All, We got our E175 online visas granted in October. We are flying out to Brisbane in December for a reccie trip and to activate our visas. I was told that with the online visas you don't need to send your passports away to have the bit of paper put in them. Has anyone travelled out to activate there E175 that can confirm this is the case please? Many thanks, Mick Applied for E175 Feb 2011; IELTS 8.5 April 2011; Meds & Checks May 2011; Visas granted October 2011

Hello, I am wondering if anyone has recently applied for a 176 with DIAC lately? The issue I have is entering my spouse/defact partner. I get to the screen that asks you to enter migrating and nonmigrating dependents. Now, my spouse is not a dependent, she IS the other person on my visa, but I am not sure where to put in her deets. I did try to put her in the migrating dependents and I can choose 'engaged' or 'defacto' but then the 'related to me' drop down box all I get is brother, sister etc so I am not sure how I can enter her in. It's like its a mistake on the web page. Has anyone else done this recently? My other option is to ring them up tomorrow and ask. Kind regards, PW1.

I was wondering if anyone who has applied for the 176 visa online recently could offer some advice. We have completed the form and were about to press submit when we remembered our certified docs that need to accompany the application, so I've gone on DIAC & found out that once you've submitted your visa application you get a TRN & you log back in using this number to upload any additional docs; however on the 176 visa checklist form it says that the checklist is for paper applications and should only be used as a guideline for online applications; apparently the checklist for online applications becomes available once you start your online application, we've been back and forth 10 times and we can't see where this checklist is!! We are just a bit worried as we don't want to submit the form without seeing this online checklist first to make sure that we have everything it's going to ask for... Regardless of whether you complete a paper application or an online application does everybody need to complete Form 1276 & Form 80? Help!!

OK, I'm stumped.. Got an email last night to tell me online checkin is open for my flight (SQ321 Sunday night from LHR, then SQ227 from SIN) It's supposed to be open 48hrs before flying - yep it's less than that, for the first leg anyway! But it won't let me check in yet - despite getting the email.... It is because the 2nd leg isn't open for checkin yet and I've got to do the two together? Or is there a bug in the website atm?
