Also will being a newly qualified Nurse with little 'Work Experience' matter whem applying for the Visa? Anyone who has been in a similar position would be great to hear from you, it's all such a minefield of information. Thanks in advance Paul

  5. Hello all, myself and my girlfriend are planning to go to oz to work for a while. She is doing the working holiday year visa thing.... easy peasy. not so easy for me as i'm 35. I spent a year in oz (mainly Melbourne...fine city) in 2001. I have been working as a mental health nurse for about 11 months. have been looking at all the visa options and i reckon the best is the sponsored migration independent visa. Bit costly and time consuming but will give the freedom. I'll cut to the chase though, have a few questions and hopefully someone out there in the datasphere has the answers. 1. Would it be possible for me to go out to australia on a 3 month holiday visa (being a UK citizen) and if i found an employer who would sponsor me would i be able to get sponsored and stay a bit longer. Can this happen, has anyone done it?? 2. If i get sponsored for a job from the uk, ie arrange a sponsorship from here before i go. What are the costs for this? Is it the same as the independent sponsored migration or is it cheaper? I presume it would be cheaper but don't know. 3. If i was sponsored by an employer out there how long does it take to go for permanent residency and is it costly? Any advice would be mucho appreciated. Good site this, glad i found it. Peter
