  1. Hello. I am looking for some advise please as I have heard on here via an agent that hospitals in Perth prefer you to have Nursing as well as Midwifery. I am starting my training in the UK to become a Midwife but am now unsure as to do the Nursing first then the Midwifery add on. I really want to be a Midwife not a Nurse but will obviously do it, if it is a requirement and guarantees me a job in Perth. Any advise or links to threads regarding this would be greatly appreciated as I can't find them. Thank You in advance Vikkey xx
  2. Hi, is there anyone out there who can offer me some advice please??? I am a registered adult nurse with 1 year experience. Moving to aus (hopefully Brisbane if i can find work there but I'm flexible) on a working holiday visa. Ive registered with AHPRA etc and due to fly out in 2 months. I would love to work in a public hospital, my background is in burns but would love experience on a variety of acute wards. What is the best way to go about finding a job? Not sure where to start, so many nursing agencies on google, does the main hospital in Brisbane use one particular agency for bank nurses or does it have its own supply of bank nurses? If so how do i go about joining. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you  poppy
  3. Hi there as the title states, im feeling like im drowning in information and struggle to make sense of any of it :goofy: I have been trying to find a step by step 'idiots guide to immigration and professional registration' but seem to only find even more info, some very conflicting. So have i got this right.... 1, Would my first point of call would be to do the Skills assessment from the ANMC? Some people say you have to do it and others argues that no I dont?? on their website it states that: You should not apply for a Migration Skills Assessment from the ANMC if you are: Enrolled Nurse/Registered Nurse Division 2. An overseas educated nurse or midwife who holds a permanent resident visa. Nurses and midwives applying for Working Holiday Visas/Temporary Visas. These nurses and midwives should apply directly to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) I read this to mean that if i apply for a 175 or 176 i would need to do it but if i go over on a temporary 475 I wouldnt need too? 2, I take it that next step is registering with AHPRA 3, Only once registered apply for relevant Visa 4, Apply for jobs (depending if i go for the PR or temporary i might swap last two around) Does this sound correct??
  4. Hi there, I'm applying for a 176 visa, sponsored by my partners sister. I've applied for skills assessment with ANMC. DIAC ask for all the documents you supply for your skills assessment to be copied and certified and sent with your visa application. I was wondering how others in the same position as me went about doing this. ANMC have said that they would forward the documents onto DIAC. However, not all of those documents would be certified e.g. course transcript, verification of registration etc. I've asked ANMC if they would return the documents back to me when the assessment process is done, but they won't. Help needed please! Thanks :cute:
  5. HELP! I wish to register as a newly qualified midwife in oz as soon as I obtain UK registration, is this possible?? AHPRA state: Applicant must provide certified documentary evidence from their current and previous employers that they have practised nursing and/or midwifery within the past five years preceding their application, as defined in criteria of the NMBA recency of practice registration standard The only experience I will have had of midwifery will be by training. I do however have two years nursing experience. Can someone please advise!!:chatterbox:

    nurse/midwife needs help!

Hi all, we've decided to 'go for it!'....and we need all of your help please! Im a midwife (fulltime) and occasionally do bank shifts as an RGN (gynaecology)....we're not sure where we want to go as yet (possibly sydney and suburbs/adelaide/or brisbane) Im 39, hubby 44 and 2 boys 17 and 11....i understand that we will have to apply before oldest son is 18?...which is in the summer! any ideas on whether i should get sponsered or not? and what do we do first? its very confusing! how long will it take, how long will we have when we get the all clear in which to go (thinking about the house sale)...sorry if the answers have been already done...and finally...what kind of salary could i expect? ive been a nurse for 4 years and a midwife for 2 both full time Thankyou all in advance
