    Novated lease dilemma

Hello, I have the option of a novated lease through work, I have compared the cost v's a car loan for the same vehicle and the novated lease comes out tops. It's via sg fleet and I wondered if anyone could give any advice if they have done the same, and what there thoughts are? I have done a search on here and there are some conflicting views. Many thanks Tracy
  2. Hi, I've been reading a lot of information on novated lease vehicles and the suggestion seems to be that due to FBT it is only worthwhile if you are in the 40% tax bracket and cover significant mileage over the course of the year (approx 25000km per year I think I read). If this is the case what would people recommend if I am coming over on a 457 for a 2 year period (option of longer but that's the plan at present) and need a car almost immediately for work and leisure? Although I will cover a lot of miles/km's at work it won't be close to the levels mentioned above. The reason I ask is that I don't have a chunk of cash to put down for deposit and from what I've read approval for car finance (with dealer and/or through bank) is fairly difficult to come by unless you have PR I should probably mention that novated lease is offered as part of salary packaging. Thanks

    Novated leasing

Has anyone been offered this by their employer? Is it a good deal or good way of running a car? Any advise on this would be appreciated. Thanks
  4. hi Any ideas if 2004 model can be purchased on novated lease? Thanks
  5. Hi, I've got a job withe Department of Human Services (social work post) in Victoria. Apparently are part of the Novated Car Leasing Scheme ( what ever that is!!) Just wondered if anyone had any experience using this or another car leasing scheme through work and whether its cost effective. You seem to get some kind of tax benefit but I can't understand the australian terminology behind it. One of the conditions appears to be that they will only let you have an Australian manufactured car , all of which appear to be big gas guzzlers. Would be grateful for any throughts best wishes, Liz
