    Visa 491 - Northern Territory

Hi Guys I am a Mechanical Engineer and i submitted my NT EOI for Visa 491 on the 30th of December 2019 and i have not received anything yet. Is the waiting time still 6 months or it is shorter since this is a new visa? Has anyone from a different field received any invitation from the NT? Thanks.
  2. Hi to anyone reading this, I have successfully past my Skills Assessment for a Marketing Specialist and now I'm eager to lodge my EOI for the Northern Territory. In order to do this I now need a job offer. Unfortunately my current place of work doesn't extend to the NT and I have contacted all local recruitment agencies to Darwin who have said they won't look at my CV until I reside there. I've contacted various people on LinkedIn for advice but I'm still no further forward. Is this the end of the road or can anyone offer any further advice please? Thank you in advance.
  3. Friends, am in process of applying to NT under 489 and need some contacts who can help me around in NT, Can anyone help to mention for having close ties in NT as required in the application? 4. Hello everybody, While I reviewing Skilled Nomination category in Northern Territory, it says that - [h=1]The NT Government will consider your application if: [/h]you have a skilled occupation that is on the DIBP Consolidated Skilled Occupation List (CSOL) but not on the NT's SMP where you are able to provide independent evidence of positive employment prospects in the NT either in your skilled occupation or a closely related skilled occupation. What does it mean actually? Does it mean that I should have employment offer from NT employer. Thanks for helping me out!
  5. Vincent aviation- Darwin goes into receivership. According to the latest news report about 120 staff have lost their jobs. Trying times for aviation in Australia. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-05-28/vincent-aviation-australia-goes-into-receivership/5484814
  6. Hello. Firstly some background information on myself. I am 25 years of age and a year and a half ago I left the police force here in the UK. There are many reasons why I left but I would rather leave politics to other threads! The bottom line is I stopped enjoying the job I joined up to do and used to love which I am sure any ex UK officers can associate with. I then decided that I wished to complete a degree so am currently half way through a three year degree. My policing experience totals just over 3 years and in that time I completed a Level 3 & 4 NVQ in Policing. My question is this. I have always had the desire to move to Australia and have been fortunate enough to visit on many occasions. When I was in the police I was always looking at the opportunities to move to the Australian police force. I unfortunately didn't fulfil the requirements and then when I did they stopped recruiting UK officers! Now I have been looking at 489 visa and jobs on those lists and to my amazement Police Officer was on NT CSOL list. Would I be in a position to apply for this visa or will the fact I am currently back studying, and the fact I left the police service mean that this is a no go? I obviously have the policing NVQ? I appreciate anyone's advice.

  8. A Northern Territory government delegation is in Ireland at the moment week trying to woo skilled workers to fill a job vacancies in the Top End. The Northern Territory has had the lowest jobless rate in the nation this year, hovering at about three per cent. At the Working Abroad Expo at the RDS in Dublin yesterday, queues stretched around the block with around 5000 people attending the weekend expo. The NT's employment minister Rob Knight was at the expo. He said the NT is expected to need at least 20,000 new workers over the next five years because the jobs cannot be filled locally or elsewhere from Australia. There are vacancies in 130 professions, Mr Knight said, from construction to the booming mining and medical sectors. Despite its vast size and low population, the Territory is undergoing a housing boom. Greg Bicknell from the chamber of commerce acknowledged that the Northern Territory was not as sought-after a location as cities such as Melbourne or Sydney, but it had one critical selling point. “We have more employment opportunities. Other cities in Australia are undergoing a recession because the strength of the Australian dollar is making the manufacturing sector uncompetitive.”

  10. Hi, Just wanted to say a quick hello. My family will be moving to Darwin in December as my partner will be starting a new job with the NT government. After reading the forums while waiting for our visas, I have seen that not many people seem to go to the NT. Any advice from anybody who has been there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
