  3. Hi everyone, im 25 and have recently moved to Brisbane with my boyfriend and im looking for a few girly nights out and to hopefully make some friends. If anyone's in the same boat or fancies it let me know!
  4. Hi my sister and brother in law are coming to visit us in Brisbane and want to go to Sydney for new year from 28 - 3 Jan. They have to go there as their flight is from there and cannot change it and need accommodation. They are willing and happy to pay for someone to put them up for 6 nights room only and they would be out most of time sight seeing. Could anyone put them up for a few nights? We've searched different accommodation but is coming up at 2k for a few nights and need cheaper options around $400 mark for 6 nights, is this realistic. They are happy to stay in someone's spare room. Any ideas anyone? They are early 30's no kids and good honest people. Thank you.
  5. I went to North Bondi RSL last night for a coffee after my swim at Redleaf and they were holding the regular Tuesday Quiz Night. I didn't want to stay the night there but I did watch the first half and wrote down as many of the answers as I could (not many - it's useless trying to do a quiz on your own. You need a minimum of four.) It seemed like pretty good fun to me, free to take part with various groups of friends and families. You don't just answer questions either as you have to 'get involved' too. At one point, everyone stands up and adopts one or other position as the compere reads out a name and asks 'is it the name of a horse or a porn star?' Eventually one or two people are left standing and get a prize. At another break the compere asks each team to send up a driver's licence photo and he picked the ugliest and again awarded a prize to the 'winner'. As I left, one lady from each table was standing on the stage taking turns to launch a paper plane, again with the one flying furthest getting a prize. If I had wanted to stay I would have asked one of the tables if I could join them. I've done that before. Anyway, it just seemed like a good way to get involved in some kind of social life as there are similar quiz nights all over Sydney. Three pubs in Surry Hills host them on different nights of the week. People get a meal, have a few drinks. I enjoyed it just watching It's good-humoured too and people get to know each other. I remember going to a quiz night once in England and my mate Nick hissed at me (his stage whisper was louder than an elephant's bellow) 'KEEP YOUR ****ING VOICE DOWN. DO YOU WANT THEM ALL TO KNOW THE ANSWER?'
  6. Hi all, Coming over for a reckkie with my fella in November and we thought, while were here we may as well experience the night life!!. Can any one suggest good places to eat and enjoy a few drinks?!!! :goofy:
  7. First night (Valley) out is on 1st July at the Press Club, meeting at 7.30pm. This is a Jazz club where I hear the drinks are reasonable. There is a train stop only 10 minutes walk away. Second night (City) out is on 16th July at the Fox, meeting at 7.30pm. This is a large bar with various music playing. It is near South Bank and has a train stop about 15 minutes away. Please send me a Private Message if you would like to join us to one or either nights so I can give you my phone number to enable you to find the group. Hope this gives couples a chance for a night out and to meet new people here. Looking forward to hearin from you soon! Kip

    Ideas for 4 nights away?

We are thinking about going away for a few nights (first time since we arrived) and wondered where to go? Have been as far east as Midland, north IKEA, and south Bunbury for the day. So still a lot to explore. As hubby is works away we can really only go from 25/26 April - expensive school hols!! We have 2 girls 12 and 7. Any accommodation (hotel, holiday park, etc) any experience. We are easily pleased lol Where do you like to go??

    Dark and Light Nights

Is it the same as here in the UK where, in summertime the sun sets later than winter time, giving you lighter nights? Thanks for any replies. :wubclub: Love, Raych x

    Last nights storm (Perth)

OMG!! Anyone else kept awake last night with the thunder & lightening?? Ended up with daughter & dog in the bed beside us - hardly got a wink of sleep - though not sure if it was because of the fantastic light display, the noise of the thunder, the noise of the rain on the metal roof or the noise of hubby snoring (he of course slept right through!):arghh:
  19. This appears to be a great way of us keeping in touch!! Monthly classic Motwon & Soul nights every month! www.melbournesoulclub.com I'll certainly be there!!!

  23. Gday all Does anybody in the Point Cook area hold regular Poker Nights at home rather than play in the National Poker League (NPL)? We have been 3 times now, and it seems that they don't seem to have any etiquette, ie, seems fixed in favour of the locals. We're not bad losers, but if your not local it's hard to get your bonus chips (we get 2 stamps per drink, but locals seem to get 8). Also, as there is no random seating and they all seem to show their cards to each other, it's pointless playing cos you'll never have a good chance of winning! Just for the record, we're not poker kings, we just enjoy a fair game. Anyone holding a Poker night in the near future, please let us know as we would like to meet new friends and have a decent game and a few tinnies. Jim & Rachel
