Hi all, I'm a 31 year old professional looking for some new friends in Melbourne to hang out with (i.e. have a pint or 7 with). Been here for almost a year and not really had anyone to hang out with, apart from my girlfriend, but require some male company to meet in the pub and put the world to rights. Ideally you'd like sport, especially football and especially Bristol City (although that's unlikely!!) but I enjoy pretty much everyone's company. I'm a chilled out well travelled guy who enjoys life and love talking to new and interesting people. Get in touch if you want to meet up for a drink. Tom. -
i am 13 and moving to Melbourne. it is more than likely i will be moving to berwick areas. Firstly,i would like to know what year i will be in for school. If i move in the UK's summer i will be 14,so i dont know if i will be in year 9 or year 10. Secondly,i would just like to talk to some aged 12-15 who has experiences moving to Australia, so that it will help make me feel more confident and comfortable about making new friends and starting a new school etc. PLEASE reply!! thanks x

Hi all, We only arrived in cairns a few days ago and things here are much like home (Ireland)...tough! Employment here isn't looking good but hopefully something will come up. We are both graduates, I'm in Business and my boyfriend is in Marine Science however as we are on working holiday visas we know it will be hard to get work in these areas. We are currently trying to find regional work, although we have only been here one month (time has flew) we want to get our regional work done early (especially when this is an oz winter-summer will be terrible for us irish lol). Also we are finding it hard to get a houseshare as apparently cairns is very demanding for house and they go quick. We have tried gumtree, real estate, domain etc but because we are looking for our regional work we don't want to commit to a long term lease and most short term's are for a month at the minimum. Hostels are also expensive for a couple even in a dorm therefore a houseshare would be more suited. Has anyone any advice on jobs, regional work, houseshares or just general info for us. Would also be great to meet some new people if anyone is in cairns CBD region. Thanks in advance Terri and Conan

Hi Im Jenn, Just joined the site today. so im looking at applying for a work holiday visa for late next year or early 2014. Im just wondering is there a best time to go to Australia? Or is all year round always about the same? I would possibly be looking for a travel buddy/partner as no one I know wants to do this and it is a bit nerve racking, so if anyone is interested please do let me know. If anyone has any information or tips at all in regards to everything, how much i need to take with me? how much i will be looking at paying in accommodation, food etc etc I would be very greatful. Hiya, we've been so caught up by settling in to melbourne life and looking after our 2 year old we have not had a chance to make many new friends over here. Keen to meet people with young families, anyone who plays casual football, or who wants to meet in city for after work drinks. We are in cheltenham and I work in the cbd.

Well i thought i would give it a go. Their seems to be loads of us that need to meet more people, we are new to secret harbour as are many of you. Even some that have been here a while need to make new friends, i am proposing going to the beach maybe christmas eve we are on our own anyway! i will put up a flag and whoever turns up turns up are beers or wine allowed at the beach??? if not just bring some juice your body boards or just yourself . I would love to see familys and single people anyone who just wants to meet some nice friends so come on whos up for it -

Hey Uk (& Maybe Aussie!!) Girlies...I've been in Geelong (just outside Melbourne) since May 2010 and i still havent really made friends due to working in a call centre and commuting (so i have long days!) Im 27 years old, female, living with my Aussie Fiance previously from London & Basingstoke in the UK, still awaiting my partner visa!!!. I miss the UK but love it here but feel very isolated and lonely and sometimes in need of a good ol' girly night of laughter,dancing and gossip. If you're feeling the same and are in Melbourne....Lets arrange a group girly something :-) We can chat on Facebook or other before to make sure we have similar interests or whatever....I've never had to make friends this way before so whatever works hey :-) :biggrin: Looking forward to getting a Sex and the City style gang together!! -

Hi! We are new on this although been here since Oct 08. We are based in Redcliffe, North Brisie. Although I am working and have made new work friends, I would love to make some friends of my own - and around my age! I'm 29 and the other half is 40. I would love to make friends that love doing what I do....generally having a laugh, shopping, eating out and having fun! I really miss my girlie friends from back home, and although I have the other half - its not quite the same gossiping and chatting with him as it is with good girl friends!! :wubclub: He is golf obsessed so is always up for a round of golf or a few beers if anyone fancies that!! Would be great to meet up with people and hopefully make some new friends!
