  1. Hello all! I've seen many posts about changing employers while on 457 visa but none of them has the answer I'm looking for. Quickly, I'm on 457 since August 2014 and lately my working conditions have been terrible. Ever since the visa was granted my boss started bullying me and always saying things like 'now I own you' or 'I know you have nowhere to go, you'll never leave'. Don't want go deep in there as it' a lost cause and things won't change so decided to find another job. Two days ago I found a company willing to sponsor me under the same ocuppation (Cafe Manager). They are already SBS approved and as far I understood they also have a nomination approved. My question is: my current pay is $56,000 per year and new employer said his pay is $53,900. I don't mind at all, just need some peace of mind and $2K less a year is very much worth it. But how will Immi look at it? Both companies are in Melbourne not far from each other (different suburbs, 15km apart). Also, I'm aware this might take 2 to 6 weeks but could it be any faster if nomination is already approved? Thanks!

new 457 while waiting for 190??

Hi all! I was hoping someone may be able to offer some insight into my situation as it is (like everyone else's) not straight forward.... I am on a 457 due to end when my current contract finishes with my employer (it was for 3 years). I have started the process of applying for a 190 GSM and hope to get it lodged before my current contract ends but it won't actually come through until next year I reckon.... I have another job lined up so I hoped to work on a bridging visa until I got PR but according to DIAC I still need to be nominated and sponsored by the new employer to work on the bridging visa. My questions are: Should I go for another 457 with the new employer (ie new nomination and sponsorship)? Or should I go for nomination and sponsorship on a bridging visa? Or if I cease employment a bit before my current contract ends can I transfer my 457 to the new employer? If I do this will my 457 extend for the life of my new contract (as I see 457s can be granted for up to 4 years and I will have only done 3)? Thanks very much in advance!

    RSMS - Changing Employer

I was wondering if anyone knew if when changing employer during the initial 2yrs of a RSMS (used to be 857) visa if the new employer needs to go through the nomination approval process etc? My current employer has said that we will have to let immigration know, even though the RSMS isnt monitored, as they want to ensure that they wont get in trouble further down the line for not fulfilling their obligations of letting DIAC know Im leaving. This is ok, I understand that they need to do this, and I wouldnt want them to lie. Cheers!
