NowPerth posted a topic in HouseholdIn the UK some mobile companies allow free calls and texts to other users on the same network. As there are 6 in our family this is a handy freebie to have. Does anyone know of any networks in Oz which allow the same on PAYG tariff?
Hi, we’re the Bowens family, Karen, Martin & four children (6, 4, 2 & 1) looking to move to Melbourne on a work-sponsored secondment. We have never been to Australia before so we have lots of questions & would be grateful for any helpful advice. We’re looking at Brighton, Hampton, Sandringham areas. Want to be in a ‘good’ area, close to the beach but easy to commute to CBD. Any info on these areas or suggestions would be welcome! Public schools – obviously want a really, really good school, but there doesn’t seem to be any league tables as there are in the UK – any recommendations? Any advice on finding rental properties & what is needed to obtain a lease? Networks - going to be a stay at home mum & want to a make lots of friends & create a good network......how? Furniture, cars etc – do we bring them with us or buy in Oz? How much approx are shipping costs vs buying in Oz? Think I’m having a heart attack just writing this, how will we survive?
Guest posted a topic in Aussie ChatI've looked through the various threads and can't find much about mobiles so thought I would ask this. I'm currently on the THREE network (in the UK) and very disappointed with the general service/reliability of the network. I wouldn't buy again in the UK. I'm moving to SA in September and I'd like mobile internet and would love to know what people in Oz currently prefer and what we need to know about mobiles. I guess this is likely to be one of my first purchases when we land and don't want to end up with a duffer. I also fancy the idea of mobile GPS/mapping as it would be really handy in the early days. I know the iPhone has full Google maps and mates over here that have them, think they are superb. I'd rather not pay out $69pm if I can help it so are there many alternatives worth considering? A quick look at the various networks/providers I note that they offer "Capped-plans", are these simply contract phones or something else? Many thanks
