  1. Well it is finally going to happen me and the kids are starting the journey to Oz on Monday, getting scarry. Hubby wont be joining us until begining of Feb as he left for work in Angola yesterday. Been a really stressfull few days, my mother has ended up in hospital on Saturday with a broken leg and today I took the dog to the vets as she hasnt eaten her food for the last three days, tought she had maybe sensed we we leaving and was having a sulk (as she did when she didnt get her own way - typical bitch as my hubby says), but total shock when vet seen her told us nothing they could do she had cancer and only had days to live so had her put to sleep before she began suffering. Kids are gutted and them on Saturday the 2 cats are going to there new home. So all I can say is role on Monday. Best of luck to all others who are in the process of getting visas - well worth the wait.
  2. Hi I am sitting my technical interview in glasgow this monday 3rd october via skype with assessor at melbourne uni. Anyone done this interview? What sort of questions do they ask and how long it takes? Thanks
  3. I'm not sure if I can cope with another 'night shift' after the game against the Gooners but if I don't turn up I feel like I've let the other guys down. Many of them come from all over Sydney, one from Central Coast, work the next day too. Once I'm thinking about it, even going to bed is no good because I wake up anyway. Liverpool v Man Utd at 1045pm tonight? A much more civilised time. Why don't they kick of all the EPL games at that time?

  5. Hi I've arranged a meetup through another thread and thought I'd post the details here too: Location - Little Creatures, Freo Date - Monday 25th April Time - Midday Details - We could grab some food (and beers!) then check out the Fremantle Street Arts Festival which is running all over the weekend: Arts Festival Website here: http://www.fremantle.wa.gov.au/Festivals Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/fremantlest...stival?sk=info I've checked out the trains and they're running a Sunday timetable on Monday (but aren't running all the way to Freo on any other day over the Easter Weekend). So far there are 7 of us confirmed and possibly more. All new to Perth and wanting to meet new people. We'll try and get a table out the front, weather permitting. If you're planning on coming along then send me a PM and I'll give you a link to my facebook page so you can see what I look like! Looking forward to meeting everyone on Monday. Have a great Easter Weekend! Jo

    Arrived at Heathrow on Monday...

I cried when we left our stop-over apartment on the Gold Coast, I shed a tear when a friend turned up at the airport unannounced to say good-bye and I gulped back the tears when the pilot said "Welcome to Heathrow". We then walked through the arrivals lounge searching for our family amongst the crowds at the airport and as they all began waving my husband and I exchanged looks - we knew being with family again would be a huge adjustment. It is now day four and I feel like a new woman. My phone hasn't stopped ringing, I've been out for coffee with friends whilst the children were with their grandparents as has my husband been out for a long awaited beer in a proper pub with PROPER mates! But more than this I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders and everything seems so positive and right, it never felt quite right in Oz, even with all the sunshine! The children are really happy to be back with their grandparents, their aunts, uncles but mostly their cousins - it has been a joy to watch them all together. The baby has finally met his extended family and is loving all the attention. Moreover, we are finally putting everything into perspective and making plans for the future - something we haven't done for the past five years because of our imminent migration to Australia. In short, yes we did experience mixed feelings for weeks before our departure, and yes we will always miss aspects of Australia, yet since being back I know without a shred of doubt that we made the right decision. Our family is smiling once again, and although we are financially worse off than before we left for Oz, we are emotionally much much better off!

  18. Well as they say, one door closes and another opens up. As you know, I lost my job on Monday due to downsizing. Sent out a few resumes this week, had an interview today and bang... got the job... start Monday. Also it is paying $8k more a year than my previous job and less hours... can't complain about that, and still only a 20 min drive from home. So all in all a great week. To all of you looking for a job... keep thinking positive thoughts. Fingers crossed for all of you. Cheers Karen
  19. Hi All Apparently a new phone system has been installed in the DIAC building in Adelaide. As a result all the phone numbers for the various visa processing sections based in SA will change on Monday 20th April. The new ASPC number will be +61 87 421 7615 All the phone numbers for the various units are in the link below, together with the general fax number: Students applying for Tourist visas Best wishes Gill PS: NOTE - The information above is for FAX numbers, not phone numbers. I read the notice wrongly. Alan Collett is right. It seems that the ordinary ASPC phone number on the main Contact Us web page has not been changed and will continue to work. My apologies.
