  1. Hi everyone, I'm waiting on the outcome of my PR application (186 application submitted at the end of Jan 2018) and believe it may have been referred to the Medical Officer of the Commonwealth for review, does anyone have an idea of how long the MOC are taking to process applications at the moment, please? Thank you!
  2. Hi all, I am from Pakistan and recently we applied for spouse visa on 23rd Feb'18. On my medicals, I mentioned that I have been recently treated with OCD (without compulsive behavior) which was diagnosed about 2 years ago. After getting letter from MOC to take additional test, I contacted local panel clinic where my previous medical was performed. After a lot of hassle, I got the appointment and met with psychiatrist. It has been a month that this psychiatrist has not forwarded the report. I tried to contact clinic and they always comes with excuse about how they are unable to contact psychiatrist due to his busy schedules. My question is what should I do in this situation? To keep doing what am I doing or to write in reply to letter that I received from embassy about ongoing delays. I wanted to apply for visit visa meanwhile but I am afraid they would ask me again for health assessment and I can't go through all this again. Please advice me.

  6. Dear All PIOs, PIO has been a great source of info though I have been but a fly in the wall, just lurking about. I've got a question regarding the meds and I'm hoping to find the answer here (please, anyone!). Hubby is ACT sponsored and we had the medical submitted a month back which was sent to MOC. Far as we're concerned we got everything cleared from the panel doctor so I don't know why it's referred. Only reason I could think of is that I gave birth under ceasarian operation once. Is this a cause of alarm? I need PIOs guiding light, help anyone please! Nikki
  7. Hi Guys, Anybody has applied a PR with a son with Specific language impairment (SLI) and got approval? The issue is MOC considers as a "significant cost" AUS 20000 over 6 years and we wasn't able to find information about estimated costs for children with this condition. I have had no contact from MOC asking me further information yet, but I suppose they will make my daughter's issue a "referral" for detailed information. I'm concerned about how much does it costs and whether is this condition taken as a significant cost. If all goes well, my daughter should require only 2 sessions a week with an occupational therapist and a speech therapist. Any experience about this please share here.
  8. Hi, My parents are travelling to Australia. My mother has a pacemaker implant in her heart and the Medical Officer of Commonwealth Sydney (MOC) has asked for a report from the treating specialist. Please help in answering the following queries - 1) Is there any specific format in which the treating specialist should write the report and what all is expected to be included in the report by the treating doctor. 2) Since they have tickets booked after a couple of weeks usually how much time does the clearance take from MOC and grant of visa. 3) What is the fastest way to submit the report and get the visa at the earliest (since they have there tickets booked after in two weeks time). Should my parents submit it to the visa office in India or since I am in Sydney they can send me the scanned report and I can send it to MOC directly here in Sydney or is there an email or fax to expedite the process? Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Regards Ananya
  9. MOC have queried my partners medical as she has a blood condition which mean she takes life long anticoagulants. (sp!) Basically, she has sticky blood and about 4 years ago she had a clot in her lungs. Since then she has taken her drugs and been trouble free. Her Mum has the condition, as do both of her brothers. They all take the same drugs and have all been problem free since (her mother for over 30 years) However, they have queried it so the Panel Doctor who did out original medical arranged for her to see a Haemotologist. He was less than friendly and gave nothing away. The request from MOC said they wanted a prognosis of her health for the next 5 years. The Haemowotsits Doc read it and simply said "I have no idea, how can I predict what will happen". We are now playing the waiting game to see what the Panel Doctor sends out to Sydney and if they will accept this. Does anyone have any advice or experience of this sort of problem and able to offer an opinion on what the MOC may say? Cheers
  10. Just had an email from my agent this morning with the news I had hoped would not happen. My application for the 457 sponsored visa was rejected. My son has down syndrome and the MOC stated Jake did not meet the health requirement. The state the medical opinion is based on potential costs of health care and community service to Australia. Im absolutely gutted and so low right now. Going on the 457 we knew that we had to cover all costs for us as a family as even though we would have paid taxes we knew that everything was for us to pay. Our sponsoring company declined to give a written undertaking to meet any medical costs etc if they were to arise, even though Jake has had no medical condition or need for medical attention in years. He has had no more than a need for calpol in the past 4 years!!! anyway, hope those of you applying for visas with any kind of health condition or disability dont go through this as its the worst feeling you will ever get. Gollywobbler - I know we discussed this before, if there is anything you can add it would be appreciated, but Im not clinging onto any hope here as I imagine if the sponsoring company rejected the undertaken then thats it. Is it worth contacting Dr Goodall again to find out what he said etc?

    Mr Senior MOC says yes

Hi All, Just thought i would let everyone know that there is light at the end of every tunnel. At first we were declined our visa application cos helen didnt meet the health criteria, but after a lot of letter writing to people and gathering more information the Senior Doctor at the Moc has said that helen meets the health criteria. So we will watch this space and see what comes of it. Also a BIG THANKYOU to those who have helped, and they know who they are. Regards marknhelen
