    "Cold" Xmas meal ideas

What people normally have for their main xmas meal apart from the usual turkey? I just really don't fancy putting the oven on to cook a traditional turkey and all the trimmings in the heat. I'm thinking to do some sort of cold platter. Any nice ideas anyone?

    death row--last meal

say you wuz on death row--what would be your last meal mine would be--gammon/peas/pineapple rings/mushrooms/chips/2 eggs--if i could have a drink it would be 4 cans of carlsberg prior to the meal--pretty basic really--but that's what i would have--just to add a bit of spice to the thread--if you could have 1 night with the person of your choice:Randy-git:who would that be--mine would be Helen mirren:wubclub:
  3. When I arrived in Australia May 2010, I was told about the ‘Entertainment Book’ which has lots of discounts on Meals and attractions. I have had my book almost a year and I have saved so much money on meals and days out with the kids at the zoo etc. As I couldn’t find anyone I knew to purchase through this year, I decided to arrange it myself! The best part is that my kid’s school benefits from the sale as they receive $13 for every $65 book sold. I do not make any profit as it all goes to the school J Please click on the link below if you would like to purchase one or simply have a look at the discounts available. It’s even better value if, like me, you have family visiting from the UK and want to go on days out. www.entertainmentbook.com.au/orderbooks/186850
  4. its my b/day on july 22nd, so a few of us r going to the Bayswater on july 24th to sample their buffet again  The Bayswater Hotel, home away from home for country and interstate travellers. so, for all those out there that say u find it hard to meet others, this is ur chance to meet up and get to know ppl in perth. sometimes they r even nice :twitcy: lots to choose from on the menu. theres a bar, its not expensive and its kids friendly. please show ur interest and i'll book a table a couple of weeks before the date. cheers
  5. If you have longer than 4 hrs in Dubai travelling with Emirates, you are entitled to a free meal (nobody actually tells you this). Find Burger King on the ground floor, and the free restaurant is above it (use the lift to get there). Bingo, food and drink courtesy of emirates:biggrin:

    Delish Meal Deals???

Hi All, Im a big fan of the Finest range meal deal for 10 euros from Tesco (its the same in UK only i think you only have it Mon-Thurs?. . we have it all the time here in Ireland cos we are now officially a poor cousin in Europe).. myself and oh are on a seriously restricted budget due to present economic climate.. so the lovely meal out at the local chinese is no longer affordable. We have embraced meal deals once a week to treat ourselves  On tonites menu; Steak Diane (sliced marinated beef, slow cooked for tenderness, in a rich sauce of white wine, mushrooms and double cream) Oven baked potatoes with smoked bacon and garlic (speaks for itself) Stir fried veg (not in the deal, paid 3 euros for this bit) Followed by: Individual slice of fresh Strawberry Cheesecake Accompanied with: Bottle of Sauvignon Blanc (just our choice, there was a perfectly palatable red also on offer) It was absolutely delish. The M&S meal deal is even better but our nearest branch is 50k away so we make do with good old Tesco. My question is .. will i have to say goodbye to meal deals in Oz??? Does any other chain over there do them??? Bon Appetit :biglaugh: Steph
  7. Hi all, Well, as you may now , it's nearly time to jump on the big white bird to Oz and time is running out FAST! I'm unsure what do about saying farewell to my family. I'm def not taking anyone to the airport, but i would like to say bye as near as i go, as is poss , as this just feels right . I think , having a get together the week prior feels like, it's too long before i go and i'm not saying goodbye properly. So , i think i'll have a meal at my mums or a pub on the Sat then fly on the Sun. I'll just have to limit the amount of alcohol i consume and keep a clear head! Plus, how do we say goodbye to both sides of the family so close to the day of goodbye? We don't want a combined do ,as we're not that kind of family and they don't really know each other, so, i don't want any uncomforatable silences and people being too polite, if you get my drift. My hubby thinks Sat is too soon before we fly out on the Sun. What are your experiences , how did you say your final goodbyes and when ? Thanks guys:wubclub:
