  1. Hi all, I am a paediatric nurse, and looking at emigrating to Adelaide. However, I keep on looking at the Mater hospital in Brisbane which is very tempting as they offer a relocation package. Does anyone have any advice about the Mater hospital, anyone who works there and what it is like as it is private and I have only worked in NHS hospitals. Thanks

    Commute to Mater Womens Hospital

I have just been offered a Midwifery post at the Mater Women and Childrens Hospital and have been given a start date of Feb 1st! I will be coming to Brisbane on a 457 visa with my husband and youngest daughter (12 yrs old). I'm not sure where to start looking for property and schools but although I don't mind a short commute i don't want to travel too much. Which areas do you suggest I start looking, can't wait to get there.. Lisa

  6. hiya does anyone have any information about what life is like as a midwife at the mater's? I have been told that as a midwife in aus its better to work in a public hospital as opposed to a private, as you will be able to work more autonomously and using the same skills as in the uk (i could be missinformed). As the mater is both a public and a private hospital, how will that work?? x

Needs to be good for kids with schools, uni and kindy all within good distance. We are looking at going up the Sunshine Coast, but if OH can't get a job and needs to be nearer Brisbane we haven't really looked at any areas in the region to live and I also have a job offer at the mater hospital. Thanks Vicky
