We are a family of six. We have 4 kiddos (4, 6, 10 & 13) trying to decide between Mandurah or Bunbury. Our kids are into soccer and little athletics, we enjoy the beach weekly and love having a strong community to plug into and be apart of. We don't need quick access to Perth for anything. Just looking for a good place to raise our family that's pretty chill and beautiful.

Hi New here, and joined to get help with my decision. 50 yr old single professional, Bit by brith been here in Nelson NZ for 16 yrs. Beautiful place but honestly bored of it, smallish town, isolated, and feel like a change. I have the possible option to sell my house here, buy in Mandurah / Bunbury / North of Perth perhaps?? and start a new chapter. I know the grass wont be greener, than here anyway lol, and Im not naive, but ready to make a big change and make the most of it. Just want any thoughts on the areas, Mandurah, Bunbury, or North - Hilary or up that way. Im temple to just make the move as a permanent one - sell here and go, then I hav to make it work, otherwise paying rent and having the option to leave means I may not be 100% committed to making it all work. Worst case I cold always move again.. life short have go for it! Any ideas, advice or opinions much appreciated.

Hi all, we are new to this whole forum thinghy but would really appreciate some help. We are hopefully moving WA at the end of the year, with the probability (just waiting for confirmation) of jobs in Mandurah, but I have read loads of different stuff, including that the secondary schools are not so good and there is nothing to do for teenagers. Just wondering if anybody knows wht there is for kids and teenagers and what the schools are like and of course the best suburbs? any help welcomed. ta

Hi, I work for a Rockingham (WA) based recruitment agency and we are looking for an Auto Electrician for our client who is based near Mandurah. As they have had some difficulty finding a good auto electrician with strong diagnostic skills, they are now considering sponsoring someone on a 457 visa which is why I have extended our job ad to come post on here. I'm copying and pasting our add which is also on numerous facebook groups as well as our own page and gumtree. If you are an auto electrician who is ideally already over here we would love to hear from you. Please note we CANNOT (due to the urgency of filling this position) offer sponsorship to candidates not already here. We also do not normally offer 457 sponsorship... this is strictly a one off deal due to the rarity of Auto Electricians!!! For more job postings like us on Facebook or if you are an employer looking for good candidates give us a call on 08 9529 1700 Seek Support are looking for an Auto Electrician for a fast paced workshop based near Mandurah, The job requires a good knowledge on a variety of small and large vehicles including some plant equipment. You will need to be a strong team player and have the ability to use your initiative. The hours are Monday to Friday 8am until 5.30pm, and along with great rates of pay, an excellent workingenvironment it also comes with a vehicle and mobile phone for the right candidate. Our client may consider taking over the sponsorship of 457 visa holders ALREADY in WA and looking for a new sponsor. Candidates who are not already in Australia will not be considered for this role unfortunately. Apply to Tracy jobs@seeksupport.com.au

Hi can anyone give any advise on primary schools in or around the Halls Head area. We are moving to Halls Head in January 2011. We have a 7 year old boy. I'm not the best on the internet, but i'm finding it impossible to get an email address for any schools. I would like a good sized school for him, preferably with a 60 children intake or more. Can anyone give any info on any of the local schools, or has anyone got a good link. What are the waiting listd like? Is it realistic to think that he could start school in Feb? Thanks Zoe x

Hi to you I'm Ali, my partner is Chris and my son is Gregory (12 in April) and we're on the move to Mandurah in WA in the next few months (hopefully sooner rather than later). Still some things to sort here but once sorted we should be out in the sun in April this year leaving the wet, grey and cold behind us. Can't wait! We plan to move to either the Halls Head area or South Yunderup but we'll wait to make up our minds on that after we've arrived. My son will be going to the new school in South Yunderup, Austin Cove Baptist College so if anyone knows anything about that or about that area then it would be great to hear from you. I'm just keen to get chatting to people who are in the vicinity and get to know new friends and to hear your news and views. Look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes Ali

Perth - Advice please on living in designated area, Mandurah or Bunbury? 489 Visa
I Love Oz posted a topic in Visa Chat
Hi We have just received a positive response from Vetassess but they only gave my OH 7 years work experience which means we have 50 points in total. We did want to apply for a 190 VISA but my OH doesnt want to do the IELTS test as he doesnt think he will pass (wont even try) so our other option is a 489 visa and to live in a designated area outside CBD. Having looked at the postcode list i think our best option is Mandurah (first choice) or Bunbury. The other thing is i have family in Joondalup so dont want to be too far from them so i can visit. Our last option is to wait until May 2013 and then my OH will have 8 years work experience and 55 points and we can apply for a 190 and live where we want. We are unsure what to do, while i dont want to wait until May to lodge our visa and then wait to see if it gets accepted. While no one can make our decision for us i appreciate any help and info you can give Thanks -
Hi My name is Sarah and i'm 18 years old. I have recently emigrated over to Perth from Liverpool with my family and would love to meet people of a similar age as feeling a bit isolated at the moment. I also have a sister, Rachel, who is 15. We have only been here a week and a half, finding it quite hard to settle in so it would be nice to meet some new friends. x

We were all set for a new life in bunbury, but having looked at this and other forums, lots of people in our position (young family) are heading towards Mandurah. Any thoughts or opinions on the two areas would be greatly appreciated. We initially thought Bunbury had everything we needed: schools, jobs, outdoor life, social scene, interests for kids that grow up too fast (over here anyway!). the greater bunbury area offering cheaper housing etc.... Anything that will help us focus our decisions would bebrilliant. Thanks Sarah and Matt
