  1. Hi, we are an newly wed English couple having lived in Sydney for 5 years. We have just moved to Port and are looking at meeting new people in the area. I am 29 and my husband 30. We are hoping to have get together such as Bbq's, restaurant meals, nights out etc.
  2. Hi there. Me and my family are arriving in Perth on 1st November. We have 3 children - Beth (15), Mia (9) and Harry (4). Beth would like to make contact with teenagers of a similar age. She loves music (plays the guitar and sings), dancing, drama, the beach, parks, shopping and going on trips. We are hoping to secure a property in Currambine, Kinross, Joondalup or Ocean Reef and so if you live in one of these areas or close by, that would be ideal. I suppose the easiest and safest way for them to make contact would be directly on Facebook maybe? Could you please let me know if you can help out? Many thanks, Philip.
  3. Hey, My name is Jen, I'm 24 years old, and I moved to Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne from UK a few months ago. But I am still finding it difficult to make friends and meet people, especially my age. I'm interested to hear from anyone who is in a similar situation and would like to make friends on the peninsula! I am still looking for work, which is probably why I haven't met many people yet, hopefully the summer season will pump up the job opportunities down here! Anyway, let me know if you want to meet up :-) Jen x

    Settling in - Sydney

Hey guys, I'm moving out to Sydney this August on a working holiday visa and plan to base myself in/around the city. I don't have any friends or family in Sydney, so once I arrive it'll be me against the world, and I'm wondering if anyone else is in a similar boat or has any advice? If you do then I'd love to hear from you! Also, once I've booked my flight I'll be blogging throughout the lead-up to my departure and about my experiences and life in Oz. Given that I'm flying out there with only my suitcase and the money I have in my bank account, I'm sure it'll make for an interesting read! Here's the link to my page: Joey Bloggs feel free to bookmark it and/or follow me on Twitter! As I said - any tips or advice on where to live (I'm aiming for the eastern suburbs), good restaurants, things to do, how to meet people etc would be really appreciated! Thanks
  5. Hey, I understand there is a certain rivalry between the people of Sydney & Melbourne, but I would be interested to hear the opinions of some impartial expats who perhaps have experience of both. I recently visited Sydney and came home with a couple of job offers. I'm seriously considering relocation, but my own (limited) research whilst still on holiday would suggest that Melbourne is better than Sydney and that it can be quite difficult to make friends in Sydney. Other things that came up were traffic, parking and a poor public transport system. I know it's all subjective but, considering it's the other side of the world, I would like to try and make as informed a decision as possible. Does anyone have any comments? Cheers, Mo
