Hi folks, I am a mental health nurse. I am torn between taking a permanent post and going down the agency route when I arrive in Melbourne. Ideally, I would go agency initially to afford me some flexibility and time for fun in building a home in a new place. Does anyone have any insight on good nursing agencies? Looking for a balance of fair pay, good staff support and regular shifts. Many thanks, Emma

Hi everyone, I am intending to move to Melbourne (from London) in Jan 2014 to work as an OT for a year. I am finding it really difficult to find any information/guidance about working as an OT on a working holiday visa. Does anyone know if 1) It is actually possible, and if so 2) How hard it is to find a short-term contract/locum work? I would rather not go down the Skilled Migration route if I don't have to, as it is just for a year. On the other hand, I don't want to get out there with my OT registration to find it is impossible to actually get short-term work! And advice at all would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all, I am currently working as an FY2 in the Uk. I am planning on going out to Australia with my boyfriend ( who is a teacher) in August/September 2011. Initially we were hoping to travel around and work in short term post (3 months or so) doing locum work. As far as I can tell, the working holiday visa seems like the most feasible option as the short term business visas require a sponsor. I was not planning on organising a job prior to going as we want to travel for a month or so first and don;t want to commit to a 6 month/ year long post. After the year (provided we both enjoy it) I will hopefully try and get a training post. Has anyone else done locum work on a working holiday visa??? As far as I can tell there are no stipulations against doing this but want to know if it would work in practice??# Thanks Katie
