I have been in Oz for a few years but have only just moved to QLD with my partner and we don't know anyone. I moved out from Birmingham and spent 3 years in Adelaide, 4.5 years in Melbourne and now here about 6 weeks. We have bought in Kallangur and intend to settle here and start a family. It would be good to meet some people and get a bit of a social circle happening. We enjoy the outdoors, 4x4, fishing, camping, having lots of laughs, BBQ, beer, wine.................. Andy 32

Hello Everybody... We're (me, wife and 4 year old daughter) looking at Kallangur as one option to move to in June form the UK. Looking at some rental properties on Realestate.com.au you seem to get more for your $ compared to Redcliffe / Woody Point which we are also looking at. Any tips or suggestions about areas to look at renting in Kallangur oh and what about the internet? Do you get it everywhere cause we've heard how North Lakes have internet issues!!! What about mozzies at night and those cane toads folks have been mentioning (do they taste nice on the barbie??) Oh and cant forget shopping - many shops and restaurants / carry outs? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Jamie
Jo&Rich posted a topic in EducationHi, we're thinking of moving up to the northside of Brisbane as Richard now has a job based in the CBD, and it's a fair commute every day, (plus with our ping-ponging, house prices on the coast are a bit out of our reach now as we're pretty skint!!) House prices in Kallangur and surrounding areas seem pretty reasonable, but we don't know too much about the area, and which schools are any good. We would get a rental to start, and I'd like to try and get it in the catchment of a good school to be sure of places. I'd like one that has before and after school care (for if I ever manage to get a job), hence North Lakes and Kallangur State schools. Does anyone have kids at either school who could comment, or even info about the area would be appreciated? My kids are in Prep and Year 1. Thanks, Jo :wubclub:
