Hi folks, I’m looking to relocate to NSW on a 491 visa. I was wondering if anyone has any experience finding jobs on a 489/491 regional skilled provisional visa? I ask because I currently hold a 476 Recognised Graduate visa valid for 18 months, but employers don’t want to know because it’s temporary. I’m worried that, since the 491 is technically ‘temporary’ (5 years and there is a clear and defined pathway to PR) I’ll be wasting $4k for the same results! For a bit of background, I’m a recent chemical engineering grad working in refining in the UK but hoping to move over to Aus and get into the water treatment business. I’ve been trying for 3 months now to get something on my 476 visa but it’s not looking likely! Does anyone have any experience that they can share? All the best, Kai
We have made up our minds we are moving to Brisbane in May and are about to book the flights...but I keep reading such negative stuff about the Brisbane job market that I am wondering if we are making a mistake?? or perhaps I am just getting scared as the move is real now... My OH is a design engineer and I would be looking for care work with the elderly. Anyone have any opinions or experience of the job market in Brisbane in either of these fields? Imogen
visa190till2013 posted a topic in Visa ChatHello, My 1st post here as i got my skill Assessed and now the big question which state to apply for SS. been reading previous posts and yes extremely helpful. General stuff such as weather, cost of living, people and places all understood. Also I checked job websites, compared various states for prospects. But still undecided as none if this information helps me draw a conclusion. Now would really appreciate if someone shed light on the job prospects for a Master in Business Administration degree holder with Human Resource specific 6 years experience. Could really use some on ground tale of happily ever after.
Is there a recession in Oz? How bad is it? Back in January we booked one year working visas and flights to head over for a year beginning in August 2009. We plan to look for jobs in architecture and possibly something in teaching (I am aware that my teaching qualification may not be transferable so am happy to do teaching assistant or similar). We are also happy to work in unskilled jobs if they're available too. We aim to start in Sydney but could move to the jobs. We have heard that Australia is in a recession similar to the UK, so are wondering whether we are likely to find work upon arrival? Or, should we change our plans and head elsewhere? Any feedback would be gratefully received. Thank you.
