    2 x rabies jabs? essential?

I hope someone can help me. Our vet has charged us £50 for a rabies vacine for our chihuahua. They have told me it would be best for us to have 2 injections with a 2 week break to insure we get the result we need from the blood tests. This will mean a cost of £100 for the vacine plus blood tests. Has anyone else been advised to have 2 vacines or has the 1 been enough. I don't want to have to pay for a vacine that is unnecessary.:skeptical: any help appreciated

    Dogs Leptospirosis jabs

Hi, I've been reading about shipping dogs over the Oz and the general advice seems to be not to get the Leptospirosis jab done within 6 months of travel, or preferably not at all. I'm now not sure what to do. My 2 dogs are due their booster jabs mid July and I've arranged to visit my Dad in France first week in August, therefore have to arrange boarding kennels. I would not have bothered with the Leptospirosis jab otherwise, but the kennels require full injections. I am wondering whether to have my dogs fully injected now ie. early, but am worried incase the Leptospirosis reading won't be clear for them to fly to Oz early 2010 (probably January/February). I'd appreciate any advice or reassurance with this. Many thanks, Mandy x

  5. hi all i know this might sound silly but i take it oz has mosquitos so do you have to get a malaria jab before moving there? or any other jabs for that matter. thanks dobba
  6. Can any of you wise people tell me please... I have 3 dogs that are due for their yearly booster jab at the end of the month (we are still in the UK by the way!). We are hoping to be in Australia in approx 9-10 months (Sunshine Coast! yay!) What do I need to bear in mind re. the Lepto thingy?! Sorry to sound vague....I'm not sure I've fully understood the implications of them testing positive before we fly out to Oz :nah: Also....not saying that we would be coming back to the UK....but....is there anything I have to bear in mind re. time my dogs would have to spend in quarantine if we ever did have to come back from Oz to the UK? I'm sure I've read somewhere that if you keep upto date with their rabies jabs in australia...that'd avoid your dogs having to spend 6 months in quarantine? Or am I getting things confused?:goofy:....wouldn't be the 1st time! lol. Hope someone can help. Many thanks in advance Jenny
  7. I have a 2 and 3 year old who may have to attend a childcare centre, I have heard they may need some extra injections. Just wondered if I could get them done in the UK before we go and what are they, that is we ever sell the house:unsure: Thanking you in advance for any replies.
