Hello all, Would love to move to Oz, Sydney area. My wife is an ITU nurse with lot's of experience however she is 47 year's old. Have we left it too late? She has also done mental health and general nursing. I am 38, and have Operations Management experience. As this is general management it doesn't give me enough points. Can anyone help - much appreciated

Hi there fellow hopeful escapees I hope that someone can help us. I'm an ITU nurse and my husband is an IT analyst. Does anyone know how much experience ITU nurses are expected to have to get sponsorship for 457 Visa in either Queensland or NSW? Also, as anyone completed the 'Recognition of Prior Learning' skills assessment to get membership to the Australian Computer Society? And if you have how long does it take to come through, and do you have any tips for applying? Thank you, Heather and Dean xx :emoticon-signxmas:

This is my first post, so I hope I'm doing it correctly:arghh: We are hoping to come out before the end of the year for a one year stay using a 457 Visa. My husband is the nurse - can anybody tell us what sort of shift systems are worked in most hospitals? At the moment he "self-rosters" - ie puts on the roster what he would like to work, making sure that he does his 8 days and 5 nights (12 hours shifts) each four weeks - and also of course, depending on the skills levels to be covered and who got to the roster first! Usually they get near enough what they have requested. It's a good system as long as the roster is confirmed about a month in advance - it's a total pain when it happens only 10 days in advance! Also, he is 60, which is why we're using the 457 Visa - and also we don't want to emigrate. Do you think his age will be a hinderance? He hasn't retired from the NHS.
