    Gadget Insurance

Good Afternoon, I am looking for some gadget insurance to cover my macbook, iPad and iPhone when I am on my WHV in Australia. The majority of companies in the UK will only provide either 45 or 90 days worldwide cover. Has anyone else found the same? Does anyone know of any insurers that will cover for a year. We also already have travel insurance with Alpha. Cheers
  2. Hi there, My visa has just been granted (HOORAY!!!) and we are planning to get to Oz in the next couple of months. I am thinking of buying an iPad 2 and can't work out if it makes more sense to buy it here or wait until we reach Queensland. Does anyone have iPad experience there? Is it easy to get tech support? Is WiFi relatively available? And can I use an iPad from Australia in the UK easily if I come back for visits? Thanks very much for any help! :em4500:
  3. I found this by accident today, downloaded the app and was delighted to discover there's a subscription service available for BBC content which can be downloaded to the iPad. Cool stuff indeed
  4. Im sorry but are some people so naive, it's well known you get ripped off in these types of places:no: SINGAPORE - How does one end up paying more than $2,000 for an item that costs only about $900? Filipino client support executive Nicholas Frias, 23, who visited Singapore last month, did. He paid $2,106 for the 64GB iPad 2 with Wi-Fi to a shop in Sim Lim Square. Mr Frias, who arrived in Singapore on June 20, first went to other malls but found that they were sold out He then went to Sim Lim Square around 4pm on June 25. He was, at first, delighted to find out that the 64GB iPad 2 at Mobile Evolution LLP cost $890, before taxes. The same model is priced at $928 at the online Apple Store. The salesman, Eric, then charged Mr Frias another $68 for taxes, and asked $958 for the device. Mr Frias agreed to pay another $28.90 for a warranty which came with a free case and screen protector. Eric then left the shop and returned 10 minutes later with a $1,148 bill that shocked Mr Frias. Apparently, the huge bill was for coverage for two years and the $28.90 quoted was the monthly premium. That added up to a total of $693.60, still $454.40 short of the $1,148 charged. The shop did not state what the additional $454.40 was charged to at that point. They also refused to reduce the warranty period when Mr Frias asked for it. In shock and not wanting to cause any trouble, Mr Frias just signed for it. He ended up paying a total of $2,106.

    The New Apple IPad Mini

Apple is developing a low-cost iPad, which could appear in early 2012, says Ticonderoga Securities analyst Brian White. White calls it an "iPad mini," because he thinks it will be priced in the "mid-to-high $200 range." The size of the iPad mini could be exactly the same, White doesn't necessarily think it's smaller*. The iPad mini would help Apple fend off the challenge of Amazon's $200 Kindle Fire.

    Buy iPad Uk or Oz?

Greetings to all! I'm itching to buy an iPad but as we're relocating in August, probably to Perth, I wondered if I should delay the purchase until we arrive thereby ensuring we get one configured for Aussie networks, or does it make no difference? Price - wise, the top of the range iPad looks to be about £60 cheaper in the UK, based on current exchange rates. Grateful for any guidance, as I'm not in the least bit techie! Thanks so much Ali x

    iPad opinions

Interested in opinions of people who have taken the plunge and bought an iPad. Has it lived up to your expectations? Glad you bought it? Sick of it already ? I'm debating with myself whether I should take the plunge too? It's probably just another toy to play with and then get sick of ? All thoughts welcome...
