  1. Hi there, Next year we will (hopefully) be receiving our 489 visa for SA. I came to Aus on a 457 visa a few years ago and worked Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) in Queensland. Made redundant we've returned to the UK and have just receives the invitation to apply for the 489 skilled state nominated visa. My wife is the lead applicant for this. I have read the limitations for the 489 and they indicate that we will be expected/limited to working in the rural area (in this case anywhere in SA) with this visa. So here is the question. If I work for a company whose Head Quarters are based in SA, but I work in both SA and say WA and or QLD in the field, would this be acceptable do you think? My wife would not be 'bending' the visa location rules and would likely be fulfilling the intended economic invitation to work and settle in SA. Thanks for your time and input on this subject.

    Interstate removal firms

Hi, we are moving up to the Gold Coast from Adelaide as soon as the house is sold. Yay at last.:jiggy: Could anyone tell me if they know (or people they know) of any interstate removalist that are value for money. We will need something bigger than a 20ft container as that is what we had when we came over from england and we have accumulated more stuff since then. We won't need to transport our car as we are driving up there. Thanks. Julie

    interstate move

We had our furniture shipped to SYD but change of plans and we are moving to Brisbane. The cost from the moving company in Sydney to move our furniture from SYD to BNE is $2024. We have about 3/4 of a 20 foot container amount of stuff seems high??
  4. Hi, We are hopefully moving interstate from the Central Coast to Melbourne looking at the East and Bayside areas. I have already emailed a whole heap of private schools and so far two have got back to me saying there are no places for my 4.5 year old and no chance of getting my 3 year old into ELC next year. Does anyone have any tips or experienced this and what did you do? Cheers CC

  6. hi, I´ve been searching the NSW websites and I´m still non the wiser. What´s involved in buying a car in Adelaide (SA) and reregistering it in Sydney? 7. Hiya we are looking to move from Perth to Cairns and cant decide whether we should just drive there ourselves or else use a removal company. (we are aware it would take about 2-3 weeks but imagine the road trip) . Is it expensive to hire a removal company, we would have 2 vehicles and contents of a small house to move but dont want to spend a fortune and if you have done it was it worth it. Any advice greatly appreciated
  8. HI every one , im hoping to to have my PR Visa in the coming weeks, its a 176 State Sponsorship from Victoria , i have seen many jobs advertised in my skills area in VIC, but does anyone know if i can work interstate for like 3 months, like in WA as there seems to be way more money offered in the Mining sector over there for my skills. Can i just register an address in VIC and work in WA??. I do understand that im obliged to VIC to stay there for 2 years, but im only planning on being in OZ this year for 3 months to validate my Visa and work there as i need to be back in the UK come September for my final year or Uni. I will then move to VIC for good next year. Any info would be great cheers.

    Interstate move

Hi We are moving from Adelaide to Melbourne possibly July/ August. How difficult would it be to get a long term rental in Melbourne whilst in Adelaide. Has anyone got personal experience of it? Would the estate agent be less likely to look on us as likely candidates? I want to do this for several reasons: I am taking my son (5) out of his first school to move after only 3 months and want to get him settled immediately and into a long term school upon getting there. Not in temp accomodation then move elsewhere. OH has no more A/L and again I don't want to take my son out of school to fly over on my own (with 2 small children) to look at properties Expense - don't think we can afford it The way they operate the viewing sysytem i.e. open viewings only on certain dates & allocated times its difficult to view without staying for any length of time Will be expensive to store our furniture and have temp accomodation. Any advice anyone.

    Interstate removal

Hi Has anyone had personal experience of Interstate removals. Will be moving from Adelaide to Melbourne at some point and any recommendations and prices for good firms would be excellent. Thank you:laugh:
  12. Some out of the box thinking needed.... I'm looking at moving a motorcycle from Perth to Tasmania, without spending shed loads of money.. The obvious thoughts are 1. Riding it myself, probably the cheapest way but nor sure I want to take that 4000 km journey on my own 2. Specialist company, they are quoting well over a thousand dollars 3. Train - they don't take them unless they are packed in a specialist crate. Selling in Perth and purchasing in Tasmania is also not an option as I've only just got it so I would lose too much money. So, any thoughts would be appreciated

    Interstate v Overseas

I'm looking to book a short weekend trip away in September for myself and daughter. We're thinking of Bali or Brisbane/Adelaide. Looking at prices it seems that its about the same for a 3 day stay in 5* luxury Balinese resort as it is for flights plus bottom end accomodation interstate. Does this sound correct and does anyone have any ideas/advice on the best option?
  15. Hi Guys, We've moving from Sydney to Brisbane in a couple of weeks and I have yet to arrange for removals! Does anyone have any recommendations for interstate shippers or backloaders? Many Thanks! Simon

    Year 11/12 move interstate

Has anyone moved interstate when their child has just finished year 11 in one state so would need to start year 12 in another state. Is that possible? It would be good to hear from anyone who has done it. Thanks
  17. Hi All, Can anyone advise the best way to move a house full of furniture from Sydney to Brisbane, and maybe recommended a moving company? The plan would be for us to drive the car up & make a trip of it but have the removal done by a professional company. The furniture may need to go into storage for a couple of weeks as part of the process too. At this stage I'm really just after anyones rough idea of cost for the move. Cheers!
  18. Can anybody please give me a direct or even indirect answer. I am moving from SA to Brisbane in January and have been given a limited relocation package. Wanting to make the most of the offer, and having little in the way of spare cash, I need to know how much it would save me to pack the container at my house, and unpack at the other end. Fortunately I have a friend up there who is helping us find a place to go straight into so hoping to be able to just transfer the container door to door. Who offers this sort of service (company names ideal but otherwise types of organisations), and what is the difference in cost? Many thanks Seabird.
  19. Me again!! We're moving to Mackay from Melbourne in January - I have a little cactus that my Mom bought me for Christmas last year - how do I get it up to Mackay?:err: Crowne will be packing everything up and moving it all for us - but surely my poor little cacty won't be too happy in a box in a container for weeks on end? Is it a case of putting it in a little open topped box and bringing it in the car when we drive up? No green fingers in this house - any and all help welcomed!! Thanks Jules:wubclub:
  20. Hi My partner and I will be moving to Perth in the next few months from NSW. My OH has a job at Fremantle hospital and we will need to rent a house once we get there. We have checked out realestate.com.au and we now look like this-----> lol! Cheers ! :cute:

Does anyone know what we have to do to register then in VIC, do they have to do a roadworthy test, is there a time limit? There current regos expire in May for one and July for the other. Also any idea of the costs? We also need to transfer our SA licence. I looked on the website and it said to call and make an appontment but is it in the city or are there offices further out?- we are going to be living in Mooroolbark. Thank you.
