Hi all, can anyone shed any light? My Dad wants to come over for a holiday and to see us and his new grand daughter. UK insurance is more than the flight due to him being 80. Someone has told him I could insure him from this end for his time here. Anyone been through this? Thanks in advance.

This is a question for people who have taken their own car to Australia. My wife wants to take her semi-exotic German car with us when we go to Australia. The costs and pitfalls of doing that are well documented around these forums, and that's all fine. What I can't find any information about is... 1. Do Australian insurers charge a premium for insuring an imported vehicle? 2. If we get a certificate of no claims discount, will insurers typically accept that? If the answer to (2) is "no" then a quick online quote with a random post code from a Sydney suburb suggests that we'd be paying close to AU$4K/year to insure it, which would be a bit silly. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Steve.

Hi we have recently had pickfords out to give us a quote for a 20ft container -this did not include insurance of the items which they said they could offer separately -it was extortion - I would prefer to be only covered for the big items of furniture not every single box of stuff - Do you have to use the insurance company they recommend or has anyone used other companies - has anyone taken their stuff and not insured it at all? I just think it is alot of money to fork out on top of the removal price, would be interested to hear what other people paid for insurance on a 20ft container. thanks val
