Hi, We are new to this forum but are hoping that someone may be able to help us out with some info. We are due to arrive in Adelaide at the end of August on a 475 state sponsored provisional visa. My husband is currently employed as a installation engineer for Sky and is looking to stay in that line of work. We are looking for any contacts or information that people can give us about digital antenna installation. We have been a little disheartened recently by posts that we have read about the job situation in Australia and are now seriously wondering what to do. We thought that he would be able to find some work as with the digital switchover we were expecting it to be as busy there as it is in the UK but now not so sure. He has wondered about going self-employed so any info on this would be also greatly appreciated. Thanks in anticipation!

We are looking for a CEC accredited solar installer to join our company. You must be accredited in both design and install. This is a full time employment opportunity which includes van. Sorry but we are NOT looking for any sub-contractors or back packers, this is a long term view to this position. I know there are lots of sparky's on this site, but we are only looking for CEC accredited solar installers at this moment in time. We will open up to more electrical work later in the year. The chance to earn good money is here, but a fast work ethic is required whilst maintaining high standards in both workmanship and health and safety.

Hi guys, My dream to have a swimming pool almost came true but unfortunately it just didnt happen.:sad: We dont have lots of money so have organised everything ourselves, we have bought a second hand fibreglass pool shell, had it certified by an engineer, have the go ahead from the council, have got a contact for a crane but dont have anyone to install it. Everyone that installs pools want to provide them too so wont look at ours and of course its the wrong time of the year cause everyones getting them, thats why our orininal guy cant do it. It was supposed to go in 4 weeks ago and we got so excited I was probably more excited than the kids!!! If anyone knows someone that could help please let me know. Thanks

Hi there, I have a couple of questions about getting my quals and experience recognised in Oz... if anyone has been through the system with the same level of qualifications and experience as me, I would be really interested in hearing about it... I'll explain a little about where I am... I am currently applying with TRA as a gas fitter for the purposes of a visa (it's cheaper than using VETASSESS as an electrician). However, I would also like my electrical qualifications and experience recognised. I understand that if TRA successfully assessed me and issued an ARTC, then once some additional training had been done with PEER in SA or CET in WA, a full grade A license can be obtained. My uncertainty is that I don't have C&G 2360 or 2330... I am just an NIC registered Domestic Installer, with a full scope license and 17th Edition. I have plenty of experience rewiring houses, fault finding, testing and certifying but only in the domestic field. I'm not sure if my quals and experience will be enough for an ARTC? Has anyone else on this forum applied for ARTC, only being a Domestic Installer? My other question is about when to apply... I have read that a few people on here have applied for ARTC whilst still being in the UK (from a thread in Sept 2011)... I thought that an ARTC can only being applied for with a valid visa to work and an Aussie address? Can anyone who has any experience of this tell me how they managed to apply whilst still in the UK? Did you give an Aussie address on your app or were you honest? Thanks in advance guys - this forum is sooooo helpful!

I am 22 years old from england, united kingdom, i am moving out to australia in october to live and work for a year and hopefully longer. I am a time served qualified electrician with city and guilds qualifications, apprenticeship, JIB approved and also qualified in solar pv installations which i have been working as an installer now for 9 months+ and have vast experience on all systems sizes as i have worked on some of the largest in the UK. My husband is a self employed Aerial, Broadband, SKY, Virgin Media Installer. Does anyone one know whether we can use this to get a Visa. I cant seem to work out whether it would be classed as a telecommunications Technician or something else. I am so confused with it all xx

Hi, just trying to gather some info on my trade. I have done this line of work for the last 5 and a half years and cant seem to find much on it in oz! I specialise in the commercial installation side of the trade and would really appriciate some help in finding some companys contact details or any useful websites for my line of work. Me, my partner and our little boy are hoping to move to perth by september. She is a nurse and is having no bother at all in finding potential jobs. Any help at all would be really appriciated keith!

Refrig Air Con Installer Or Welder which is most wanted in Brisbane?

I am coming over in about 3 or 4 months to Brisbane. Would love to live on the Sunshine Coast if possible. Will I have more luck in Refrigeration Air Con or Welding? I know I need licence etc but is they still a demand for these trades are has Oz got enough? Would I have more luck in Perth? Any Refrig Air Con guys having problens getting work? Also Welders how it going for you ? Would be nice to hear from you if you living and working in Oz. -
I dream to go back to the UK. I didn't find anything good in Australia, after months of milking money out of me for dozen of licences, certificates, working as a volunteer to get australian work experience, I can't stand this country full of false promises, where I am forced to get next paper, usually useless, but it is a requirement to apply for a job. I want to go back to the UK, and would like to know current situation in this industry. Does anyone know? please let me know
