Hi Everyone, I'm having a little worry and thought I'd ask you guys before I call DIAC I've submitted my 801/820 Partner Visa application and my WHV is valid until 7 Dec, DIAC have already granted me BVA for when my WHV runs out and I am planning on going to see my OH's God Son with him on 3 Dec until 18 Dec and we will be flying to the Gold Coast from Sydney to see him...my question is do I have to tell DIAC I am doing this? Am I ok to fly within Australia on my WHV/BVA as long as I take my letters from DIAC as proof? This is probably a straight forward yes or no answer but thought I'd just check as the time is looming!! Thanks everyone

Hi All, I can't seem to find a definitive answer to this. Any help would be appreciated.:notworthy: We are shipping our car on roll on roll off as it's so much cheaper than a container. The question is can we put personal possessions both in the boot and on the back seat? Thanks Dawn x

Exporting my van to Aus with tools and belongings inside?
Guest posted a topic in Shipping and Removals
mporting my van with my tools and clothes etc inside? Hi there, great forum I've been reading through a few threads which have been very informative, but i have a specific question. i would like to export my 2004 Ford Transit Connect SWB ( value £3500 ) from England to Aus with my work tools and my clothes, computer, books etc inside the van. My thinking is that i can turn up in Aus with everything i need to live and start work. I know about the modifications that may be necessary to the van and the cleaning of the tools etc and i'm not bothered if it costs me as much as buying the van in Aus So my question is, am i allowed to put my belongings in the van ( in crates ) and export it? Connect's seem rare in Aus and i think it would be unique and eyecatching once sign written plus it's a diesel ( most vans are petrol in Aus ) so would be much better on fuel, also commercial vehicles only attract 5% tax or so i'm led to believe A good plan? Or not? It doesn't have aircon but my mates car doesn't either and he lives in Sydney. Thanks, Aaron.- 14 replies

Hi everyone - I dont know if this is in the wrong place, I wasn't really sure where to place it. My query is, as a BRITISH passport holder, do I need to bring my passport with me to the airport when travelling within Australia? I just got my first stage spouse visa (Subclass 820) and I am travelling from Perth to Queensland, and my spouse says I don't need a passport to do that, since we are not leaving Australia, but I wanted confirmation that is the case for British Citizens and not just Australians. If anybody could let me know, that would be great! Thanks, all!

My partner is currently in Australia and I am back home in the US. We will be applying online (in the next two weeks we hope) for the 457 employer sponsored visa for him with me as defacto. In several places on the forms and immi website there are statements like "if you are applying in Australia then do this now" or "if you are applying outside Australia then wait for instructions"....my question is how does this apply to us since he is "in" and I am "out"? Has anyone else been in this situation who can advise? :wideeyed: Thank you for your help. D

Hi People i am hit with a problem and i am in need of some advice from you good old people that know your beans regarding immigration. Well then as ever its complicated, but i will try to keep it short and sweet. I have been in Auss (perth) since 18th Dec 2007, firstly on a ETA holiday visa, this was set to expire after 90 days (13th March) so i extended the holiday visa online, for another 90 days which will take me to mid June before my time is up and i have to return to blighty. Since i landed i have been heavily involved in getting a sponsor 457 visa but as my time reaches a close i am thinking that a working holiday visa will be better for me and less hassle. The big problem i have is i have ' no further stay ' condition on my current holiday visa so i am not sure how this will work? Am i right in saying i can leave aus and go to bali or thailand, and apply for a working holiday visa there? If you know what your talking about and i must say i have great advice from the moderators before now then please spare 5 minutes to stop me whinging. Thanks again and bye:notworthy:

Hi folks, My wife and I are leaving Edinburgh on January 1st and flying via Singapore to arrive in Sydney on January 3rd. What a start to the new year! Now, we're both seriously into our food and wine. My favourite way to spend a day is trawling round the butchers, fishmongers, grocers and deli for the best local produce I can find and then spending a few hours cooking and listening to some music with a glass of wine, before sitting down to a good meal with or without friends. Now it might sound a bit like a bad montage scene from Notting Hill, but it's how I enjoy spending my time off! The thing is, I have all my sources well sussed out here. I know who does the best lamb, who'll get me some bone marrow or calf shin when I want it and where to go for the best cheese. I'm going to be a bit lost when I arrive and I could use some expert local advice. On the one hand Sydney is a much bigger city and I expect the quality of the seafood will be off the chart in comparison (I'd be lying if I said that didn't have quite abit to do with the move), but is the Fish Market the best place to go? Do you know any nice wee butchers who will tell me where their meat is from and will sell me rabbit and nice, well hung, chunks of lamb and beef? While I am going to try and lose a bit of weight when I arrive I think cutting of the good cheese supply entirely might kill me faster than the hideaous mutated offspring of a Funnelweb and a Great White. Any good tips for Delis? I'm well prepared for the lack of French, Spanish, Italian, Californian etc wine, but I'm hoping it'll be balanced with the opportunity to try all the great Aussie stuff that you never send over here (sly dogs!). Any good wine merchants or warehouse type places that you can recommend? Any restaurant recommendations are also hugely welcome. Everybody knows Tetsuya and Rockpool but unless I rob a few banks, they will be an occasional treat. I'm don’t care if it's fine dining or sitting on a bucket at a market stall, as long as the food is good! Cheers
