  1. Afternoon all My partner and myself (27) have been out in Perth for a couple of months sorting ourselves with jobs and accommodation etc but now it'd be good to grow the social scene. I know there was a social organised by Poms in Perth last weekend which we weren't able to go to so we wondered if there were people interested in an informal meet up on Saturday 18th June. The pub the Lucky Shag by the water front in town is nice and central. We'll be down there for some drinks and maybe a bite from around 2pm and any one who fancies joining us would be welcome.
  2. MODS please remove my duplicate thread in Western Australia and not this one please. Hiya, I did an informal apprenticeship via YTS in the 80's day release to obtain City & Guild part 2 and part 3, with part 1 being an equivalent under a different body. I did 4 years (part 2 took two years to do). I was'nt under the EITB board as some others at other companies were. But TRA pathway B states 5 years training. Am I out of this? Or can I point to the fact I've always been on a skilled rate in this country? Am applying under 716 route, but WA want 7 years out of last ten but I was in fulltime education around 7 years ago. Then in maintenance fitting for 2 years and not machining which I've been in sine then. Should I go for SA and simply slip in to WA? Or would employer sponsorship be my only hope? I appreciate my first problem of four year apprenticeship will be seen as informal and therefore incomplete? Thanks for any advice, doing the TRA isn't a problem as I'd like to know if Oz is going to be or not.

  5. Hi all I have sat down today and started to piece together my step daughters TRA application. We have decided to go down pathway B which requires her to have a 5 year informal apprenticeship. She started college to study for her NVQ level 2 in hairdressing in September 2004. The first year was a combined hair/beautician course. She carried out 6 hours a week in hairdressing tuition that first year. In September 2005 the beauty stuff was dropped and she was solely being taught hair. In May 2005 she was offered a saturday job in a salon at the place where she had a college placement once a week. In October 2005 she left college and went to work at that salon as a salon junior and the boss paid for her to carry on her NVQ level 2 at a private college. He gave her tuition as well. Once that was completed she went on to complete her NVQ level 3 in hairdressing. She is still at that salon as senior stylist. My question is this: She started hairdressing training in September 2004 with the college but she started at a salon in May 2005 where she recieved on the job training whilst attending another college to get the recognised qualifications. Has she completed a 5 year informal apprenticeship or does she have to wait till May 2010 to apply for the TRA? Hope that makes sense! JOHN

Hi ive had the forms half filled in for months for the TRA i done a plastering apprenticeship for 3-4 years working for the council, i have got all my certificates upto advanced craft, i have my results and indentures. i have been plastering for the last 20 years but this may sound like a daft question which pathway applies to me is it formal or informal? Also do i only need to get references going back 12 months? I am self employed but labour only i can get references from employers and accountant stating this but do you think this will be enough? cheers for any help Skill Pathway A: Formal apprenticeship Skill Pathway B: Informal apprenticeship Skill Pathway C: Vocational traineeship Skill Pathway E: Australian qualification
