Hi, While my husband is a Pom we are already living in NZ where we are planning to move from to Melbourne mid 2013. He has been in media here for many years, and the last 2.5 he has spent working in marketing/sales (due to the small city we're living in). As sales isn't his passion he is thinking about retraining, possibly to work in IT (he used to be a buyer many years ago) or telecommunications. I guess I'm just feeling it out - does anyone know of any reputable training establishments? Or companies that will invest time/effort into someone that has the skills but not necessarily the qualifications? His other option is to do more marketing/media work, I think he may not be as keen on this as he doesn't want to be 'stuck' in a sales role where he would much rather be doing something creative. Your advice will be gladly received!
This might be somewhat off topic but would anyone have any ideas as to how receptive Australia would be to a Clinical Hypnotherapist such as myself? I also teach I.T. to alcohol and drug dependent clients. We're still at the early stages of having qualifications checked by the ACS (my partner is the main applicant). At the moment my partner and I have two definite places in mind: Albury NSW or Emerald VIC. Emerald would be good (but expensive) and Albury I like, but not sure as to how much business I could attract there, and work for my partner might not be so easy to come by (she currently works as Online Art Director and website designer for one of the UK's largest financial institutions). If we do decide on Albury then we'd also be looking at running a B&B as a main part of our income. All thoughts appreciated. Alan
Hi, I'm a I.T. team leader specialising in Oracle databases as well as having been an experienced Unix/Linux/Windows sys admin. :GEEK:I have my 175 skilled PR visa and just need the financial support of an Australian job to migrate. Has anyone managed to get an interview for a job in Oz before leaving the UK or am I wasting everyone's time? I am heading for Brissy and recruiting agencies seem to be waiting for me to land before they will put me forward to their clients. Getting a job is the only thing holding me in the UK and getting a chance is proving to be quite a challenge. As there is such a skills shortage (I qualify for at least 3 skills on the CSL) I would have thought that you could get at least a stage one interview remotely, this is quite common in the UK.
Hi My family and I are hoping to move to oz next year and I am just wondering what city is going to provide me with a decent chance of finding work / starting a business. I currently work in blackpool, england. I am self-employed and provide technical support to home and small office users. I setup small networks, supply pc's, virus removal, wireless networks, that sort of thing. any comments would be appreciated. thanks Paul
